tuner and less mileage

i recently installed a 4" mbrp cat back with no muffler on my 6.0 and picked up close to 2 mpg and when i added a bully dog triple dog i got worse fuel mileage. i was even extra careful not to take off hard or dog it when passing. what gives?

Loss Mileage

More horsepower = more fuel = less economy...... I would call them too, unless they don't state fuel economy gains then you'll be spinning your wheels with em. Good luck

Does your chip have different power level setting? Not sure about how that tuner is designed to affect the truck at different power levels, but a lot of fuel is being dumped into the engine which increases power/smoke/ and EGT's. I've never used bully, but I have heard they aint worth the money.

Winter fuel = .9x mpg

Therfore
Winter Fuel = Summer fuel

1.1 gal winter fuel = 1 gal summer fuel

Hereby chip on winter fuel gets same/worse mpg than "no chip" on summer fuel.

Can't help it, force of habit.

We've just spent the last week computing indicated HP, brake HP & friction HP and Brake Specific fuel consumption problems in our study of recip aircraft engine theory. They really hammer some of this stuff into you pretty hard.

Back before Christmas break, I was having wierd dreams about my truck being on 4 bathroom scales while trying to calculate it's weight & balance. (It's an aircraft mechanic thing)

For the 6.0, if it was before purchase... I would have said try out SCT.

On the general note of mileage on the diesels. They are strange in the fact that you can tune them to add more fuel and gain fuel economy. I know it doesn't make sense but it works. The issue is that with the additional power available, 99.9% of the time you can not physically drive the exact same style and acceleration rate as you did stock. So you are not comparing apples to apples.

Drive like a granny with it tuned and see if you find the gains.
