My automatic 00 is not responding to the key switch. I wait on the light and turn key and nothing happens. Nothing seems wrong with the batteries because everything else works, and just 5 hours ago I just got home from a 1500 mile drive. I have moved the gear leaver to Neutral and tried that also. Poped the e-brake off and tried that. Moved the steering wheel let it roll some and tried it again.......nothing. Can anyone help me with what to check. I will have to wait till tomorrow to try anything though.......Thanks to all in advance for help............:hail :hail :hail

in addition

Well I may have answered my own question. Does the 7.3 have a shut off if the oil level is low? If so I am parked with the front facing down hill. My dip stick (not me) is reading about 2.5 qts low when parked like this. Maybe this is why it will not hit-a-lick......or is it??????

very well could be, but the "everything else works" quote for the batteries means nothing. The lights require very little power compared to the cranking 7.3.

My money is on batteries anyway. These trucks take a HUGE amount of electrical power to crank. They need 110 volt for the IDM to drive the injectors, huge amps for the glow plugs, and enough to crank over a pretty buff starter motor.

When my batteries went bad, all of my accessories, blower fan, radio, headlights, etc, worked flawlessly. But when I turned the key, nothing...

Jump it off of another vehicle. I'll bet it starts right up. Then, you're gonna have to drive on down to Autozone, Wal-Mart, Napa,or the like and getcherself a couple of new batteries....

Naw, that isn't it. You still had 11.5 to 12.5 quarts in it. Plenty to get it going. It won't shut down until oil gets down around 6 quarts or so...

D.A. Me forgot to mention that I had parked on a steep hill facing down and kinda sideways. Checked the oil and just barely touched stick. Rolled it to level ground and vola' it fired right up and runs fine. Sorry for that but I had no clue and had read other post after posting it and went and checked it out and got her going............THANKS EVERYONE....:thanks :thumbs
