My truck has a vacuum over hydraulic actuator on it. It uses the stock system, and adds two hoses about 3/4" in diameter that go all the way to the back of the truck. I have no issues with this normally, but when pumping the brakes in bad weather I get a little spooked. I have begun using the clutch to downshift, keeping RPM's up, but have also considered putting in a large reservoir, effectively doubling or tripling the length of time I have before getting a hard pedal. Does anyone know of any item that will fit this bill, in a 3-5 gallon size? I am considering a air bubble tank mounted on the frame rail.
I do know that my vacuum pump is healthy, and that my rear brakes are well adjusted. I can manually activate the trailer brakes and see that this is the large draw that has been workign on my system. I do have a guage and warning light built in with this system, and can monitor my vacuum level.
I suppose my other option is a hydroboost conversion.
Any ideas on this?
