I've posted about the pesky oil leak coming from the rear of the engine before but I'd like to know if the valve cover gaskets are known to last just so long on the 7.3L's before they need replacement?

I don't know the answer CHP but want to! I'm looking at a new garage floor, and one that my truck fits into; when I get it from Kentucky, it will be a mission to "stop the leakage". My friends Dodge hasn't dropped a drip in a week in my driveway.

The valve cover gaskets should be replaced if damaged. (cut knicked or burnt)
Like anything they could fail with age.

my oe valve cover gaskets were still good with pliable rubber wehn the harness got fried and took the gasket with it at roughly 13 years old.
it all depends on how hot the rubber has gotten over the years
