Well it finally happened. The tranny on my F350 finally bit the dust. I believe one of the planetary gears broke. I had just filled up with some liquid gold (diesel fuel) and turned out on to US-501. Well I had to get on it a little to keep from getting ran over. When it shifted 2nd and the converter locked up and BOOM it happened and it no longer pulled anymore. I guess I can't complain. It has 212,000 miles on the original tranny and I have towed often and heavy for most of its life. I had it dropped (first time on a tow truck ever) off at L & D Performance Transmission here in Roxboro and next week I am going to let Joey/Frankie do their magic. I should have a good idea of what all is going to be replaced by Tuesday but I know for sure there will be a billet converter, shift kit, billet gears, and kevlar clutches in the mix for sure. Looks like the bombed engine caught up to the stock transmission. Hopefully the replacement will hold up for another 200k. I may have to up the HP after the performance upgrades (I was already scared to add more) on the transmission also. DP Tuner is next.

After looking at alot of your pictures, it looks like your
truck has earned it's keep by pulling some
kind of a trailer most of the time.
Good looking rig.
Let us know how it all turns out.

I surely can't complain about how well it lasted. Hopefully they will get on it today. Its very rare that it does not have a trailer hooked to it. I needed my truck last weekend. It broke unloaded. Guess it was mad it me for not having it loaded. :dunno

Well I picked it up last night. It is a much more pleasurable vehicle to drive now. The shifts are a lot firmer than before and it seems to put more torque to the ground. I will know more once I hook up the boat and load the camper. I believe I am also going to upgrade my engine programming from Superchips to DP-Tuner. I am going to call them Tuesday and order a SCT programmer with some of Jody Tipton's custom programs installed. :D
