I was going to fix a fuel leak that i thought was the lower hose going to the fuel pump, there has got to be an easier way to get the hose clamps on and off. and once i got down to the hose, I found the fuel pump was where the leak was coming from. how hard is it to change the fuel pump and are there any tips anyone could offer?

It is not that bad, I did mine a couple of months ago, remove the Y-pipe, and the big banjo bolt on the turbo side of the pump. the hoses can be removed without removing the filter pot, I had to turn the pump counterclockwise about an 1/8 of a turn and bend the hose and then rotate the pump into the hose. Now thatI have done it once it is simple, IIRC for dsays the turbo has to be removed bit I didn't do that and I think others on this site will say the same. I guess the filter pot is not that hard to remove and makes it easier to getthe pump out. Took me about and hour and 15 minutes to do. Hope this helps and good luck.

It won't it stays in the pump, I actually broke my dowell on the bottom of the pump off in the block prying the pump out a little too hard, but it just pulled out with a pair of pliers. hope this helps

loosen the two bolts that hold down the fuel pump, when everything else is disconnected from the pump, turn the motor over by hand until the fuel pump pushes up a little, then remove completely.

HEUI injectors eat air for breakfast. No worries as long as it is just for a short time while clearing air from the system. Long runs on air can score the injector plunger and barrel
