What older model to buy to pull RV

Hi all, Im hoping to get some advise as to what to buy. I need to try and find an older truck (diesel) that I can buy with cash, lets say something $5,000 and under to pull my RV, about 11,000 lbs. Can you guys help me??

It won't be a pretty deal, but you might find something. You either need to set your sights low or come up with more $. What do you pull the RV with now?

I dont have anything right now. I just need it to pull the RV in an emergency situation, like if a hurricane was to come my direction. I dont travel with it

For $5,000, I don't think you'll find anything newer than an OBS. All the problems the first year or two the 6.0 had, actually caused the 7.3 Superduty's to retain value longer. There was a person on this forum (I think :dunno ) who said in the Houston area, a dealer told him a used 2002 & 2003 7.3's were going for more than used 2003& 2004 6.0's due to all the recall & reliabilty issues. Eventually the 6.0's got their issues worked out and became a sought after motor.

A decent OBS with a 7.3 Powerstroke in good condition for $5,000, will truely be a fortunate find.

You should be able to find a nice 70's F250 or F350 gas truck, that has been well taken care of for around $5,000.
I saw a 1973 F250 with a fresh 428 engine in the paper for $4,500.

Let me get this straight: You want to buy a used diesel truck in the event a storm blows through? :lmao
