I have an Autometer, Ultra lite series, Pyrometer and am looking to install a trans temp gauge. The Ultra lite seriies has 2 types. One goes up to 250 degrees the other to 280 degrees. I have never had a trans temp gauge and am looking for some help as to which one I should use. The gauge that goes up to 280 degrees is a more money and I would like to save the cash if that high of a temp is unnecessary. If it is needed though I have no problem spending the cash.

Thanks for the input.

The higher Trans temperature gauge is not necessary. Your readings will be outside air temp + 100 degrees, under normal circumstances. So 250 degrees will be fine. These transmissions don't like temperatures of over 230 degrees for any time.
