Howdy All,
I have my front driver side rotor off right now and I assume that it has inner and outter bearings right? I ask because the "bearings" on the inside of the rotor that slide up on the spindle has a HUGE amount of play in it. I believe that it is pressed in, so how do I get it out? Also the wheel had some play in it from side to side, I can't tell you how much like in inches, but enough for me to be concerned. Aside from new bearings what else do I need to look at?
Thanks,
Craig

Craig,

Not sure if the 2wd are the same or not, but the 4wd isn't pressed in, it has a SEAL on the back side that will need to be removed and replaced.

Also, is the play in the balljoint or steering? or is it in the bearings?

Hey Kevin,
The Ball Joints were repaced in Dec 05 - Jan 06. I can't say if the movement was from the steering or the bearings, but the bearings have over 100K on them, if that makes a difference. Autozone said that they don't list a part number for outter bearings. Can that be right? I told them it is a Timken 15101, they say that is a cone of some kind.
