I have looked all over the area where the oil filter is and I dont see any machined pad with a serial number on it. Can anyone give me specific directions or a picture of where I should be looking?

Thanks!

edit - ok, I found something but not sure what exactly - could I possibly have a serial number of 566416 (with some other illegible mark after, could be another 1)? I read the cutoff number on Joat's list of part numbers and mine seems high compared with that. I still might be looking in the wrong place because there was not any readable prefix like has been described.

yes they did. That it?

ok, that must have been it. I looked back at the wiki and it had a prefix of xxx U2U xxxx. The only prefix I could read on mine was the U2U part so that must be it. Good, I have the right cps from International. I think I can put this to rest now.

You should also find the same number on a sticker on the front of the HPOP IIRC.

The first digit should be a 3 not a 5...so your number is 366416.

well crap that means my cps (both) are the wrong ones. I read something today that the only risk is corrosion from the two types of metal due to a switch on the newer ones. Those pictures are FAR clearer than my stamping. That is the same place I was looking but mine is very faint. Im going to check yet again tomorrow.

Mine was illegible so I gently cleaned the numerals with a green kitchen scrub pad and tiny drop of toothpaste.

Peter,

Dont fret the difference in the CPS. Some guys have been running the incorrect CPS for many moons with no problems. Use dielectric grease on the connectors and drive it.
