Have a steady check engine illumination; first for my 2003 F350 Centennial Crew with low (30K) mileage. Truck is used for 2-3 road trips per year and no towing - most miles are Interstate highway at 78-82 mph. Has been cold here and I have used engine block heater when temps get below 28F - that's the only change in usual usage. Noticed engine light when starting engine to warm up after sitting for week or so. Suspect a fouled EGR but want to get code reader to confirm this before cleaning/replacing EGR. What code reader is best? Engine is stock except for Banks turbo back. Thanks, dg.

The best code reader is an Autoenginuity program and connection. This program runs on a Windows laptop computer and connects to your truck. This will read any car or truck. You get more than a code reader, like a performance program that lets you set up a drag strip anywhere (with in your truck) so you can time your self down a strip. AutoEnginuity® - OBD2 Scan Tool - Professional PC and PDA Diagnostics
