:dunno Been reading posts and looking at ads for aftermarket transmisson pan when I tow my 7k camper with my 07 6L F350 King Ranch. Anyone have any comments on which pan I should consider or even if it's really needed?
Leaning towards the PML as the cost is less than the Hytec and seems to be about the same. Thanks

do you have a trans temp gauge ? (other than the pos that ford put
in the dash?) unless youre running HOT i wouldnt bother.

make SURE youre changing the factory supplied trans by-pass filter
(mounted up front under the radiators on the passenger side)

and make sure youre FLUSHING the fluid at the intervals required...
DO NOT USE FLUID OTHER THAN MERCON SP

MOST independant shops <dont know what mercon sp is>
they dont keep it in stock and they would have to have a sep.
machine w/ it in for flushing.

mercon or mercon V is NOT ACCEPTABLE transmission fluid for the 6.0
torq-shift automatic.

if anything you might wanna consider the move to the fin'd 2008 rear
diff...doesnt add any capacity but it will add some cooling (and look
nice)...it wont rust either...and its 4+ times LESS (cost) than a
mag-hytec

check my links for info on the trans gauge (and why the factory supplied
unit sux).

ive got links in there to the rear-diff cover.

you can flush the trans in your driveway if you follow the directions
(like i did) --> Truckblog - How-To Flush Ford's Torqueshift Transmission

youll need about 22quarts of mercon SP.

Which Transmission Pan ?

Just this evening changed factory transmission pan to Mag-Hytec

Also purchased Mercon SP from local Ford Dealership -- been thru the exercise of whether to use Motorcraft Mercon SP or Synthetic --- I decided to stay with Mercon SP for Warranty.

Draining the factory Pan oil and replacing Tran pan with Mag-Hytec was a breeze

I have a 2006 F250 FX4 Diesel 6.0 - Automatic Trans

Now for my question: Haynes manual states to drain the Torque converter for a total transmission oil change ---- so I located the nice handy Factory Rubber grommet bottom front of Transmission and then marked with a grease pencil as my starting reference point --- then manually rotated the engine with wrench on pulley and went full circle and didn't locate the Torque Converter Drain Plug --- Now I viewed several bolts that I assumed held the torque converter cover .

Can some one help me understand / procedure for draining Torque converter --- I truly desire to do a quality job and replace all Transmission fluid.

Maybe I should remove anyone of the bolts I viewed as engine was manually being rotated --- would that let the fluid drain from Torque Converter ?

Your experience / guidance is most appreciated and needed :oops:)

read THIS --> How-To Flush Ford's Torqueshift (5R110) Transmission <-- and follow
the directions for a COMPLETE transmission FLUSH !

the factory torque converter doesnt have a drain in it !

how many miles on that truck of yours anyway ?
have you changed the transmission by-pass filter ?
did you replace the filter in the pan when you dropped the pan ?
