will factory alarm work with motor running?

Occasionally, I will go into a store briefly, leave the motor running and lock the doors with my extra remote. When I press the lock button on the remote the second time to set the alarm, the horn does not blow or the lights flash like they do when the motor is off. Is there a way to set the factory alarm with the motor running or is it completely disabled?

I think I recall a post indicating that 2002 was the first year that the factory remote would lock/unlock doors with the engine running. It would not work with my '97.

You're probably right. It looks like a new alarm will be on the "to do" list, albeit at the very bottom. I want to do the fun stuff first

Yall, are correct! The ford remote will lock / unlock the doors while the truck in running on the 2002 model. I am not sure about the alarm being armed though.

The alarm will not operate on my '04 with the motor running. I tried it.
