Just to let everyone know banks exhaust for the 6.4 is now available to ship from banks for 489.00 ( i think) DPF back. I talked to a rep yesterday. The tuner and intake are coming out next one month apart of each other. The rep told me with the combination of all three I should pick up 3 mpgs. I think I am going to do it, diesel here is between 4.39 and 4.49 per gallon.:

My own personal experience with Banks has shown their stuff to be underperforming, overpriced & over-rated when compared to similiar items from other manufacturers.

I've had better results, material durability and satisfaction all for less $$$ with my MBRP exhaust than the Banks exhaust I had before it started rusting. I was so disappointed, I scrapped the entire system.

In the long run you'd be better off asking for and following the advice of others on this forum who have already found out the hard way what works and what doesn't. I'm sure you'll be happier down the road.

Banks monster exuast

i went on Banks Power Systems and looked up the monster pdf back kit, i think the 4" single is the one i am going to go with. i clicked on the read more tab and liked the fact that they have the "coolcuff" which seems to be the best compared lowest temps at 485 degrees wich is lowe than stock. does any one have any better advice for this system with the dreaded PDF system. and also does any one know how this will sound. thanks

If you're installing a new exhaust with the DPF still intact, you can expect sound levels to be similar to stock at idle, but more aggressive at WOT. At least you won't have the annoying "drone" on the freeway.

Do you have a dually? Did you get a dual exhaust and is it from the DPF back? Last question do you have a DPF delete pipe? Thanks Matt

How exactly does Stainless Steel rust? Was it back in the 80's when they still used Aluminized?

I installed one of these new systems on a 250 last week. It is a muffler delete DPF back system with the cool cuff. Sound quality was the same as stock. The only way to get any real sound out of the truck is to delete the DPF.
Install was dead on and extremely quick. The oval slant cut double wall tips are first class.

different metal types can rust, mbrp uses mostly 409 stainless, a different metal compound than the higher priced better quality 304 stainless. I'm not sure the exact specs of the compound but there is more of one type of metal in it, something about nickle or some alloy that makes it rust, even though its still classified as stainless. I had a mbrp on my duramax, and after 3 months the entire thing looked like crap, except the tip which was 304 stainless. Thats what I was told about the 2.

Why bother wasting your time and money if the Banks exhaust sounds the same as stock? Seems kinda dumb....
