05 6l missing when cold

05 6l runs rough for about a minute when not plugged in ( seems to be missing) ( minus 10 C ) after short time it warms up and runs fine. im thinking injector problem, but i do not notice any problem in performance, excessive or white smoke. any ideas?

Glow plugs. Is it hard to start? I doubt it is the injectors until you get past all of the usual suspects, like batteries and cables, glow plugs, etc.

Do you have the latest flash with the inductive injector heating?

Glow plugs. Is it hard to start? I doubt it is the injectors until you get past all of the usual suspects, like batteries and cables, glow plugs, etc.

batteries and cables are good there is lots of voltage and it starts good, just sounds like it is missing on one cylinder. gonna have to try starting it cold and using a temp gun to check all the exhaust temps at the manifolds.

I was told by a ford tech that it is the nature of the beast. I have started mine well below freezing a few times last winter after it was sitting all night and it only ran rough for about 10 seconds and then was fine. If i plug it in it doesn't do that. I didn't have the latest flash then - Just had it flashed last April.

There is no injector heating, only a pressure relief. You heat the cylinder with the glow plugs.

Yes, the latest flash (sorry I don't have the # handy) actually heated the injectors prior to start to address injector "sticktion" in cold conditions. The flash prior to this one cycled the injectors (buzzing noise) for 30 seconds after shutdown to spit the oil out so they weren't loaded with cold oil at startup. I have this flash, and it helps, but the latest one (well probably a year or 2 old) improves cold start even more.

X2(the way i understood it, heated the oil that was still in the injectors,to aid in cold weather start-up)....have had latest reflash for about a year now....
