How many of you are using a Fumoto valve?

Are you using a nipple?

Did you use an extra washer to keep the threads from protruding into the pan?

I have been using one for several years. No nipple. I cut a little off the threads to keep it from protruding into the pan too far. A year or two ago I pulled it all the way out and dumped a quart of oil in and nothing other than clean oil drained out so I don't think it is holding much of anything in the pan. There is always a quite a bit of oil in the HPOP reservoir that doesn't get drained so a ounce in the pan doesn't really matter.

I have mine ordered but was worried about all the discussions over the projection of the thread into the oil pan not letting the old oil drain out. By my calculations a 1/4 inch projection over a 12" x 12" area or a square foot would retain about 20 oz oil. Now I'm not sure what the bottom of the oil pan measures but I would like to drain as much of the old oil out when changing. Over the 15 quart reservoir that isnt much at all.

What about using the extra washer?
