Thats what I was trying to get across. Personally I don't care where you buy your filters. I would buy OE if I was servicing my truck but to each their own. If the aftermarket filter does not match up perfectly in every way I would not even remotely consider using it.
I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
I work for a dealer that FIXES trucks. We fix other dealers mistakes. I deal with fleets that own hundreds of 6.0s. I believe that I have the experience. Maybe I have not worked on them with my own two hands but I discuss these issues with...
Thats not the claim. How many 6.0s have you worked on? Maybe yours only? How many EGR valves and intakes have you removed and cleaned? I have seen quite a few. Buy a different brand or just buy 45+ cetane fuel. The idea is that low cetane fuel causes the problem. Anyone that knows anything about...
Your opinion is noted. I have mine and the manufacturer has theirs. I am probably one of Ford's biggest critics what what they say here makes perfectly good sense to me. Good luck.
The idea behind the booster is to prevent the build up. Its not designed to clean the EGR. Maybe you should read the information before making judgment.
While I am not a tech I do know quite a bit about the issues that plague the 6.0. Ford/Navistar have studied the failures. I have attended...
I never trashed the Fram filter. Its your truck. Use whatever you want. Personally I don't care what a Fram filter looks like because I am only going to install Motorcraft filters on my truck. Its been that way for 214k miles.
Its a good thing that you are no dealing with another manufacturer...
The ad is no joke. It did not claim to keep a EGR valve perfect by using it. Its claim is it helps the problem. Read the "bottom line" before passing judgement.
Most pump diesel is only 40 cetane or less. Ford/Navistar states 45 mininum. A 7.3 could probably run forever on less cetane but it...
Ford/Navistar believe that fuel quality is a big cause for EGR problems. Take a look at this PDF below. Additives could help the poor quality fuel we currently see at the pump.
I am personally not a fan of additives but this stuff did do what it claimed. I wish I could give you a personal opinion on a 6.0. Maybe my millage increase was a fluke. I donno for sure but it did quiet my one noisy injector for sure. :sweet
Here is a PDF on EGR and Motorcraft...
This to my knowledge is not published. I got this from a Blue Diamond engineer. His claim is that the additive can raise the cetane 4-6 points. I have ran the PM-22-A in my 7.3 and it quiets injectors on a 7.3. It also raised my mpg by 1.5 which suited me just fine. His claim is that it will...
No, I own a 7.3 BUT I spend a lot of time with 6.0 customers. There is no denying that the 6.0 has problems. There are quite a few of them that can be prevented. Using OE filters is one way.
Another way to help resolve the EGR issues is using PM22A Cetane Boost. The biggest reason for EGR is...
Motorcraft 6.0 Filter Comparison
Don't take a chance at using a filter that can/will harm your 6.0. I have talked to the engineers and read their studies and this is the gospel. You get what you pay for when you buy OE filters. This video explains why.
Black smoke and no power? EGR. Do you idle you truck alot?
Lately there has been a lot of poor quality fuel creating more EGR issues also. Any DTC codes?
