I spent 1500 rebuilding it myself. I used RacerX for the converter and parts, and just followed the ATSG manual. It was bad ass when finished.
If you can rebuild a motor, then you can rebuild a tranny. No difference at all. If you get stuck, there are guys on the forum to offer advice. I...
I thought so too. When you look at the threads of people who have done it all you see is piles of unknown parts. When you do it yourself you get to know every one of those parts and they're not so unusual looking anymore.
I'm puttin the word out there - quit buying rebuilt transmissions. I bought an ATSG manual, looked at a couple threads, then rebuilt this SOB. If you can rebuild a small block engine an auto trans is NOT much more difficult.
Now I ain't saying it will work on the first try but how many...
I had a 99 f250 6 speed. I sold the tranny and got a 4r100 that i'm rebuilding. I'm pulling the motor and putting it and the tranny into a 2000 Ex that has a v10. I needed an auto pcm so I swapped myne for a nvk4 auto pcm. Now I want to put the TS chip from my f250 on it with a reburn from...
Thats not true. I have a 95 ranger, 4cyl/5spd, and it has so little power on the highway that removing the bug gaurd increased its aerodynamic efficiency enough that I dont have to downshift on hills anymore to maintain 70mph.
I got in contact with Maverick over at Racer X. He's a good guy, I cant say enough about how helpful he was. I didnt have the money to throw everything in there to make it bulletproof and he worked with me to get the best bang for my buck. I did get the x6tc, and clutches and a bunch of...
Can it be re-burned to ignore what instrument cluster or PATS module its hooked up to? Or would I need a handheld programmer for that like a SCT or similar?
Reason I ask is I'm putting it on to a 2000 m/y auto truck PCM and putting that into a 2000 m/y Excursion.
Also any suggestions on...
I got a lead on a 4wd 4r100 with up to 150000 on it. The guy says he feels a little slip on the highway when he punches it but that sounds like a converter to me. Either way, I'm tearing it down to little pieces and checking everything out. He also says it has a BTS valve body. It may or may...
It sounds like getting in touch with Racerx would be a good idea. I think I will try to pick up a used 4r100 and rebuild it slowly. I'm not in any hurry cause right now I have 2 good running trucks. I'll be hitting you guys up for advise I'm sure.
BJS- I might be taking you up on that...
I guess I'm not clear about the benefit of a shift kit vs a valve body vs a tune that all change the shift firmness and timing.
Besides shift feel, I'm also concerned about it feeling mushy while accelerating in a gear. I dont want the engine to run up to 2000 and the speed catch up...
This is going in a heavy excursion 4x4, my mods are a ts 5 position chip, cold air intake, and a turbo back exhaust. Would something like this be a good fit for me:
Racer X
Or would I be wasting money and prolly not like it. Should I spring for this:
Racer X
I checked those PI...
