    New trans, torque converter, ats flexplate, cooler and lines installed. It went together much better with the proper dowels. Next I need new gearing, its a pig (no tuner)

    This time the dealer was able to get me the proper dowels, they are like 3 inches long for the automatic trans. Withe truck being at one time manual - am betting the pcm is also a manual since the trans always shifted like crap too.is there a way to tell ?

    Sounds like dipstick bung on the oil pan, I just fixed this on mine with rtv by baking the nut off and carefully gooping it around the bung retighten the nut and wipe off excessthere is a more permanent repair if you replace the oring inside the pan but its a lot more difficult,

    Does anyone know what the proper dowels look like on the automatics? Mine don't come all the way through the horsecollar on the back of the engine and I assume they should. Am I right in thinking the shorter ones are for a m$anual trans?

    For those following this, The doubled up flexplate gave up the ghost last week and just got around to replacing it today. On the old doubled up one I just doubled up the dished portion and had it tigged. It broke both centers right at the bolts, and I had left out the little reinforcment...
