ok when fighting a electrical issue with a going bad alternator. well i got that issue fixed and moved onto the gpr issue im having.
i thought the gpr had been moved from the stock location to outside of the valve cover and mounted to the vacuum pump bracket. now after further investigation...
since the weather has been getting cold here my motor started making a hissing noise at part throttle. if i give it more throttle or back out of it the hiss goes away. it's fairly loud and almost sounds like a external exhaust dump on a turbo gas motor.
just wondering if it's normal since...
when i run my AC on low it's fine and blows nice and cold but if i switch to max AC i here a slam in the box near the trans tunnel and barely anything comes out of it. but you hear the fan blowing harder. if you switch it back it works fine again.
another problem if you run the truck for...
along as the bearing housing is in good shape your good just make sure there's no burs or little piece's that might come off and fly around in the intercooler and maybe further past that.
i'm not sure on the turbo's on these but on mitsubishi turbo's the bearing is on the exhaust wheel just...
dont know if this helps but i've done afew turbo rebuilds on Chrysler conquests and Mitsubishi starions. unless the bearing has trashed the hosing around it and seals a simple rebuild is do able at home. i've done five turbo's and only 2 have failed but that was because my friend wanted me to...
now the question would be which gear to go with.
anyone know what rear gear ratio 99 f350's come with? we got one at work with the same trans and motor just different rear and the truck bogs done real bad in over drive and 5th pulls ok but once again the rpms are high in 5th but over drive is...
you can try a flush of the system first thats the cheaper way but it sounds like the pumps about to go.
you cooler could be clogged and causing the fluid to boil. try flushing the system but make sure you go in reverse of the system flow to try and clear it out or have a radiator shop do it...
had this problem with my 550 when i hit the brakes power steering was basically gone. the pump was working but was weak a new pump and it works fine now.
another thing does it get hard to steer at idle and stopped?
it's already got the 19.5in rims and the only option i've seen for that it is the conversion to tractor trailer rims and tires and that aint very cheap.
i tried the local ford dealer i got about as far as you can talking to a brick wall.
i was thinking of a gear vender option but depending on the size of it that would cause some bad pinion angle's.
My truck has the HD 6 speed and 4.88's in the massive rear end. Great for pulling and hauling.
I'm wondering if going to a 5 speed or if there might be another gear set available for the huge rear end. Also anyone know what rear the 550's came with that might help me find a new ring and pinion...
