tranny cooler
I stayed with the initial design of my 99, which has a separate cooler in front of the radiator. I did replace the stock one with one from a V-10 automatic as it is 50% bigger than the stock cooler, and bolts right in. You will have to bend the supply/return lines a little, but it still looks...- probear

Brakes quiting, help
It sounds like the ABS is not working correctly. Does the ABS light come on when you first start the truck? (To verify that the bulb is not burnt out) If it does, and then goes out, you will have to pull the codes to see if any are set. Anyway, it's a start.......- probear

Shudder during braking
2000 had rear rotors and the ABS would have thrown an ABS light on the dash. (I just went through replacing the rear ABS sensor....Ranks as one of the easiest $20 repairs I've done in a long time...) The rear rotors also have the parking brakes inside the small drum of the rotor. I hope that...- probear

Shudder during braking
Another thing to be careful of is lug nut torque and proper torque patterns. These rotors can actually warp because of improper torque. You must use a torque wrench when tightening the lug nuts... Clean the rust under the rotor hub and then retorque..- probear

Talk about the 7.3L CPS Here!
A dirty IPR can and will cause a shutter. From what I understand, a CPS will either work or not work. I've had to clean my IPR a couple of times, and afterward, the truck runs great......- probear

Dually Tire Recomendations.....
What are you running now, what have you run and how do you rate them. I'm looking at LT235-85-16 sizes, with the usual criteria.... Mileage, traction, cost, ride, etc. Not really worried about snow, and not much off road, although I do not want a straight 'hi-way' type of tire. :thanks- probear

Tranny temps
Ford says that the max sustained is 230 with a temp spike of 248, but I've also seen a general rule as follows: 175o= 100,000+ miles, 190o= 90,000 miles, 210o (Pressure Drops) = 55,000 miles, 230o (Valves Stick) = 25,000 miles 250o (Varnish Forms) = 17,000 miles, 270o (Seals & Clutches Burn) =...- probear

Maybe Trans problem
OOPS :sorry My bad....... Can't believe I bounced all around that without directly saying it was the TQ.... :dunno BTW, because I had the external filter and a trans temp gauge, I knew that there was a problem before it totally broke. The crap from the disentigrating TQ started clogging...- probear

Unfortunately, that is "normal" for that year transmission. It's the infamous "marbles-in-a-can" sound, and rather loud at that. Unless it's slipping or otherwise causing a problem, it's probably OK to drive. Now, that being said, I would add a spin-on external filter prior to the...- probear

finally runnin on home brew!
KEWL....... Last night I scored an old water heater and a 150 GAL tank. The tank was used for fuel oil so cleaning it shouldn't be much of an effort, considering the dilution factor. I have yet to decide to use it for finished bio or for initial storage of unprocessed. REally glad to see the...- probear

Did some more projects today....
I added an upgrade harness that uses the factory relay to supply direct voltage to the headlamps. It does make a difference, but the problem I have is that the 80 watt lights fry the headlight sockets. What a PITA..... I'd luv to find some sockets that can handle the power..........- probear

Well, Greene Ford in Gainesville is also pretty good on prices. I did the V-10 cooler switch when I had a torque converter self destruct. fan removal tools
Initially, mine slipped too, so I cleaned the pulley just to make sure all the oil/grease/dirt was gone. I also cleaned the strap.... Oh, then I remembered that the large clutch assembly has a right-hand thread and must be turned counter-clockwise to remove. :doh:- probear
