    Front Suspension and Steering Questions

The Truck 2003 Excursion 4x4 6.0, D50 3.73 Monobeam Front axle, Sterling 10.50 3.73LS Full Float Rear Axle. My questions: 1st. The Track Bar. It mounts to the frame with a long "dog-bone" mount with bushings, I can see these bushings are worn and need to be replaced. I can, while lying...

    Help Needed Fuel Guage Problem

Agreed..... when the gauge is behaving itself it is accurate. But I agree, keep and eye on the miles to go..... which I have found, on a 100% stock truck, that computer is fairly close.... but change stuff up..... and it can vary.... BTW - The Miles to Go WILL read 0 Miles to...

    Help Needed Fuel Guage Problem

My fuel gauge will act strange.... and the more that I see it, I think it is something with the control of the gauge in the dash itself and not the float in the tank. If I leave the truck running while filling the tank, I can watch it rise with the level of the fuel and register full when it...

    One less B-17

That plane was headed here. It was headed to the Mt Comfort Airport (Just renamed Indianapolis Regional Airport because of the upcoming 2012 Super Bowl). I believe I have been inside that plane, as I think they come here around this time every year. Was a beautiful bird!!! Sorry to see its...

    Part Number Cross Reference

I agree with both. The main thing I would suggest is to save a copy of the PDF, and host it on our site, that way we do not have to worry about it dissapearing from another site. Besides, I already saved a copy to my computer and a portable drive!!!!

2004 f350 bilstein shocks. which ones???

I just put Bilsteins on my Excursion. They sell them by height. They have: 0"-1" Lift (Stock Height) 2"-4" Lift 4"-6" Lift Up To 10"-12" Lift The difference between the 4600 and the 5100 is the finish only. The 4600 is yellow with blue boots The 5100 is Zinc Plated with Black...

    Question This looks potentially bad.

Mine has done the same thing. It is not leaking at all. I will fix it someday........

    Replacement Shocks

Agreed, shock are not hard to replace. I did it with just simple hand tools (Wrenches and ratchet/sockets). What I did to install them was: Backed the truck up on my ramps, rear tires only. I jacked up the front, removed the tire and then supported the chassis/frame with a jack stand...

    Replacement Shocks

Update: I have the Bilstein's installed on the truck and they have made a world of difference! I had some issues initially (incorrect shocks shipped, received a set for an F-350, Ex mounts differently than an F-Series). They have made the truck ride much nicer. On the Interstate, it has...

    Turbo sticking

X2..... mine is much happier and runs much better when I am running it as a daily driver on my ~60mi round-trip commute, than as a local grocery getter, pick up the kids...... Run it, but not abusive, and it will be a very happy truck.

What kind of mileage from 6.0L?

I have a 03 Excursion 4x4 6.0 3.73ls. ~7500lbs Commuting I get between 12-15. On the road I have been right at 20 on long, all interstate hauls. Towing... 12-14.....

Question What gives the 6.0L a bad reputation?

Drew, Early on, there were issues with the injectors. By now, most, if not all of them have been pulled out of service under a warrenty repair, or posibally a truck buy-back. I have read that Ford did buy-back some very troublesome trucks early-on. Some of the early trucks would shutdown...

I Saw Some Nice WWII Planes Today

I know of a couple of other airworthy P-51's One is hangered at the Mt Comfort (just renamed to Indianapolis Regional) Airport. Another is at the Vermillion County (Danville, Illinois) Airport. I have personally see both of them fly. I am not sure the specs for each plane. I just...

    Alternator/Battery Charging issues

Have you had the batteries tested? I had a problem with mine not charging. Thought it was the alt, replaced the alt 3 times... they kept going out. After the last changeout, a buddy who also has a diesel (90 IDI). One shop tested the batteries as bad, another as good. So we swapped...

    Replacement Shocks

Well, I have a set of Bilstein 4600's ordered for the Ex. Had a local shop (4 Wheel Parts) the was having a shock sale. Got them for about the same as online, with free shipping to the house. So I have a project when the Big Brown, or White Truck shows up. I will give an update on how...

    Replacement Shocks

I am not sure, since I am running stock height. But, you may be able to run the stock replacent size. The 4600 is the stock size, the 5100 is for lifted trucks. Looking at several sites, the 1st "lifted shock" size I saw was for a 4" lift. So you may be able to use the same ones that I am...

    Replacement Shocks

I hope so. Of all the answers I received in both sites which I think was close to 10, one 2 or 3 said something besides Bilstien..... Plus, if they last as long as some of the reports, I will not have to do this again for a long time. Which is a good thing. Besides if they do go bad, they...

    Replacement Shocks

Thank you all for your answers and suggestions. It looks like I am going with the Bilstein 4600's. Have to get them ordered.

    Replacement Shocks

OK... on the Billstiens I see the 4600 and the 5100. What is the difference between them, besides $25 bucks? Which one is better?
