    Mileage on other 7.3's??

Just yesterday when I was on the road, driving approx. 40 mi to where I had to go I got 17.5 mpg on the highway. Since I have put on the AFE air intake my mileage has definitely increased. In town with stop and go I'm getting around 15 to 15.5 mpg so I think I'm doing pretty good. I will...

Ford recall 1.8M trucks and SUV - 7.3L CPS!! **Main Discussion thread**

I took my SD in last month and had the CPS replaced. I never received a letter and the dealer didn't ask. I told them why I was bringing in the truck, they said "no problem" and it was done. I did ask if they had the part in stock because I know there were some people who went to get it...

    Rotella T Synthetic

Maybe it was loud at first because he only started it up and ran the engine in place for a short time. But since he's been driving it he said he did notice a difference and that it was definitely quieter. I have it in my truck and after I made the change I noticed the engine was quieter--I'm...

    Rotella T Synthetic

I have a question on the Rotella Synthetic 5W-40. A friend of mine just put the 5W-40 in his truck yesterday. Same truck as mine, same year, same engine and it sounds a heckuva lot louder than it did before he changed the oil. He asked me if I noticed it and I said I did. What would...

    Rehashing air intake systems

That's my little girl Lacey, a great little hunting dog. She's small but she's mighty. Her favorite is pheasant hunting--loves tracking down those big roosters. Congrats on your pup--are you going to train your pup for hunting???

    A Statement of Sorts

Well Big Joe, because of you and others on here like you I have learned more about diesel engines than I ever thought possible. Now I'm certainly not a mechanic by any means and I do type with two hands--took a typing course way back--but I have found that I can do some work on my truck...

    Rehashing air intake systems

I've noticed that some air intakes have lids on the boxes and others do not. Is there any particular reason for this, i.e. does one with a lid function better than one without or does it matter??? :dunno

    2 cycle oil causing glazing??

Well, I've been checking my oil, just checked it again and it has stayed at the same level since I changed it about 3000 mi. ago. I'm using 1 oz. 2 cycle oil per gal, no white smoke, no difference in oil. I do a lot of OTR driving and generally cruise around 70 mph when I can.

    2 cycle oil causing glazing??

Didn't you post a while back that you were using 2 oz. oil per gal. of fuel? Could that be part of the problem?

    Donaldson air intake systems

I think that's probably what I'm going to do. The rep just emailed me and wrote that he has an AFE and uses an Amsoil filter for it.....claims it's identical to the Donaldson system. I don't know if you'd consider a turbo charger a performance modified rig but I'll check out the Stage II. I...

    Donaldson air intake systems

Yup, I am a preferred customer. But after reading a bunch of info on the Donaldson, the one they're recommending for the 7.3 is not supposed to be used with an engine that has any enhancements, i.e. chip, programmer, exhaust or turbo charger which is what my truck is. :( I've emailed the...

    Donaldson air intake systems

Do any of you have the Donaldson air intake system installed in your truck and if so, how do you like it.....or......what don't you like about it? I'm going with the Amsoil synthetic trans fluid and the rep seems to feel that the Donaldson is one of the "better???" air intakes. Since I know...

    Re. Synthetic oils for transmission

I know this has been asked before but I'm getting ready to have the transmission fluid changed and I want to make sure I'm doing the right thing. I've got folks on one side saying DO NOT use synthetic trans fluids and I have others saying it's the ONLY way to go. Soooo, that being said...

    Diesel Fuel Price Up Again

In my local area diesel fuel is up to $3.76 a gal and will probably hit $3.80 by end of the week. I don't buy my fuel here, I go to Jersey where it's usually $.15 to $.20 cheaper per gal. or if I'm on the road I'll hit one of the big truck stops where you get a discount. It's really...

    Ice storm in NE

Yup--we're gonna get it here too. It's clouding up now and it is COLD so it will probably start out with snow and turn to ice at some point tomorrow as that warmer air comes in.....hate ice, can't walk on it, can't drive on it, even the dogs have trouble trying to navigate and they've got 4...

    Hey guys

My friend had to wait weeks before anything happened with the Enbrel. His insurance company turned him down TWICE but he kept up the fight and his doctors backed him up 100%. They wrote letters to the insurance company stating that without the Enbrel his case would only get worse to the point...

    Hey guys

I have a very good friend who also suffers from Psoriasis and over the last couple of months he developed Psoriatic Arthritis which left him virtually crippled. He'd been trying to get on Enbrel but his insurance company was trying to NOT allow it. Fortunately for him his docs stood behind...

    Transmission fluid and longevity

This is interesting stuff. Now I've had a couple of "diesel owners" tell me NOT to use synthetic in my trans because it causes slippage and makes the seals leak--could it be they used the wrong stuff or had some problems beforehand they didn't know about???? I've been contemplating...

    4x4 Shift Motor is not.......

 The previous shift motor was not working--had no 4x at all. Bought a new one, installed it and it didn't work either. After doing a lot of checking/testing of wires, etc. I decided that I needed somebody with the expertise in this area AND a code reader. The guy that did...

    4x4 Shift Motor is not.......

Shift motor is FINALLY working!!!! Okay, so I have two friends who were trying to help resolve this problem (both own diesels) but all was to no avail. I figured this had to be an electrical problem and nobody had a code reader so I found a guy who is reknown for his electrical...

Question for those using 2 stroke oil:

1 oz. oil per gal. of fuel. I use the Pennzoil 2 cycle but there are other good 2 stroke oils as well. BUT, I believe there was some discussion about using it in a 6.4 and that it could cause problems.
