    the truck is manual trans,in 4th at those rpms im around 2500-2700 rpms in that range.

    is it possible i put the egt probe in the wrong spot?could i have put it near something that.......i have no idea were im going with this,but does anyone know what i mean?its on the drivers side exh. manifold right by the bend,like i said before,i idle around 225*.

    i actually had the pcm out of it last night,i was trying a diablo chip from a newer sd,but it didnt work ofcourse,so no,there is no chip.anyway i can hop on the highway put it in 5th and gun it and i can get up to 1200 or so doin around 90.today i hooked up to the trailer again(2k about)got on...

    im not sure either,maybe ill try and tow with the exhaust brake off and see if it makes any difference.you guys sure the intake wouldnt cause this?

    'i can hit 1250 with no load.i can jump on the highway with no load and bury the pedal for about 10 seconds and hit 1250 and 15-17 psi of boost,then i let off.keep in mind that with no load!add 8k behind there i think i will have a problem.:dunno

    engine wises your truck stock though? how can i expect to tow in anything above 2k in od without egts climbing like crazy.cruisin between 65-75 i was running 1050-1150,just cruisin on flat and very slight elevations,it would climb,this was with 2k,doesnt sound right to me.

    so if i hooked up to 10k,towing it at 3000rpms on the highway in 4th would be ok?those rpms just seem so high.the engine sounds like its going to blow up.also i shouldnt tow in od?the manual says not to so i guess not.but with those high rpms doesnt that defeat the purpose of a diesel?low rpm...

    in 5th i was running like 2000 rpms, keep in mind it was only 2k,i repeat,2k.when i would shift to fourththey would drop some but as soon as i would hit the gas it would be back up to dangerous levels.so i cant tow in od? i dont see how people with these trucks tow anything over 4k in od,mine...

    i can hit 17psi on full throttle which i believe is normal max.ive stock trucks like mine pullin 10k 50-60mph on flat land.with mine i would have been at 1500 degrees and then on the side of the road with a melted engine.so what can be wrong?:rant

    so how can the manufacturer say this truck can tow 9800lbs safely when 2k is putting it close to dangerous temps?are my tires the culprit?im wondering if my homeade intake could be causing these high temps,if the filter was restrictive,i was only seeing about 6lbs of boost in od while in cruis...

    pyro is pre turbo,temps are around 80,my exhaust is stock with the exception of a straight pipe,no aftermarket downpipe

    i was towing a trailer that weighed around 2k on the highway earlier and when in od doin 70 -75 i would run 1050-1150 on flat,then on the slight hills we have in florida it would hit 1250,4th gear wasnt much better either.that seems to hot for a 2k load.i know my 3.55 gear and 35's dont help...

    ive got a chance to get a single pos diablo sport chip from a guy i know,his truck is a newer 7.3, he says it will work but im not sure,so monday i was going to plug it in and see,is this ok to do? the main thing is to make sure keys arent in it correct? all info will help. thanks brian

    so towing up a hill you want to get rpms up real high? say ima pulling 5k,and up over yonder,pertineer, theres a big hill to climb.would it be more likely to pull the hill better in 5th at 2000 rpms(peak tq) or drop in into 4th and put the rpms in the 2500- 2800 rpm range which is closer to peak...
