Could you give me some examples of the brand names this category covers? I'm a bit confused! :(

    types of coolant

I don't mean to say I want to change but rather use something other than Ford brand coolant. Do the Prestone "Gold" types or Peak "Gold" types same as Ford Gold type?

    types of coolant

My 2008 6.4L F350 came with the orange type (extended coolant). I'm due for a coolant change next month (@100K miles) and I want to know if I can use any extended type coolant (like Prestone, Peak, etc) in the premixed containers. Anyone use a coolant called "Global?" I think Peak makes it...

    F550 Towing mirrors

I just want to verify they are. I'm not implying they're different. I want to buy a set off of a F550 and don't want to waste my time.

    F550 Towing mirrors

Will the towing mirrors on a 2008 F550 (or F450) fit on a 2008 F350 or 2008 F250? Are they the exact same mirrors? I have the 2008 F350 w/plain mirrors (electric) and wanted to buy a set off of a F550. Although the mirrors on the F550 are all manual, I think they should still fit only I...

    Coolant change procedure

Yeah there is a separate coolant for the fuel. It is the same orange coolant the engine uses. But it appears to be in a separate contained system

    Coolant change procedure

What about the fuel coolant?? Does that really need changing? Do you know how to change it? Thanks for your reply! David

    Coolant change procedure

I did a little research and it appears the change is about the same as any other car. I question whether I really need to change the coolant with the way I drive I doubt the coolant is worn out after less than one year - even though the miles are very high. I kinda wonder if simply checking...

    Best oil for 6.4

I have about 94,000 miles on my 08 6.4. I use Shell Rotella 15-40 (non-synthetic). Have not used anything else and am very happy with it.

    Horrible fuel mileage

Most of you guys with the mpg woes are likely driving a truck with the high gear ratios. I have a 4.11 rear end and if I drive at 2000 rpm on the hi-way (63mph) I can get about 17 to 18 mpg. My friend has the 3.78 (3.73?) and gets much better gas mileage than me at the same speeds (at 65 mph...

    Announcement Louisiana Newbie here

Hi new guy! I have an 08 350 dually with the 6.4 engine. 93000 miles on it (hotshot truck) and have not had any problems. Getting 16 mpg most of the time, but I have the 4.11 rear and drive very slow. Hi-ways I can get nearly 20mpg without a load at 63mph. Anyways, I have a lot of miles and...

    Coolant change procedure

Hi, My 2008 F350 (6.4) needs a coolant change soon. I have 92K miles and will do the change in the next couple weeks at 100K. Is this a pretty simply DIY job? I change the oil, fuel filters, and other simple maintenance myself and would like to do this one too. what are the steps...

    How are Wix fuel filters

Thanks for the responses! I can save quite a bit by buying my filters through them, plus free shipping if I order enough (which I plan to do) DS

    How are Wix fuel filters

Hi, I'm thinking of going with Wix filters. I change my fuel filters ever 8-10 weeks and need a less costly substitute. Seems they are high quality and built to OEM specs. My truck is used for delivery and does about 10k miles a month. David

    got the "wrench" symbol today

I changed out the fuel filters today (3rd time since new) and I may not have primed the fuel system correctly. When I started the truck it ran about 10 seconds then shut off. The wrench symbol was flashing. I tried to restart but the engine wouldn't start. I primed the fuel system a couple...

trying to find fuel filters-- WHERE??

This thread is mine, and I don't mind at all :) The ford dealer in Slidell charges 99.00 for the oil change on the 6.4L. Not including taxes, etc. When I have limited time, it's worth the few extra dollars. I guess they prefer to make minimal money on the little things to get you in the door.

Who else would do a good job changing my ATF?

My dealer quoted me about 175 for a fluid replacement and 25.00 more to do a "flush" Not too bad.

Who else would do a good job changing my ATF?

I have the 6.4 with auto tranny. The dealership wants a little over 200 dollars to do a tranny flush. Would an independent shop or tranny shop do just as good a job for less? Is there anything special about the tranny that makes it important to only have done at Ford?

    ATF change

I just noticed I posted this on the 6.0 side. I have the 6.4L with torqueshift tranny. does that make a difference. Mod: Can you move this to 6.4 side?

    ATF change

Also--- how much would you think the dealer will charge to change out the tranny fluid. I'd do it myself, but I work too much and would rather have a shop do it. Thanks again---

    ATF change

My owner's manual says to change the ATF at 30K miles on the Torqueshift tranny if there is an external filter and at 60K miles for the internal filter. How the heck do I know which one I have? I have an F350. Also what is the DANA rear end? How do I know if I have that type? Thanks

    Need real mirrors

I may try a commercial truck sales place nearby to get some ideas too. Those guys usually have someone outfit their trucks going to the end customer. I didn't think of a salvage yard. Thanks David

    Need real mirrors

I'm a truck driver so I need function over fashion. This mirror system is superior to either of Ford's offerings. My truck is used as a commercial vehicle. I just need some sources to buy them, not opinions on what is stylish. No, the mirrors I want have far more "real estate" than...
