    I'm having a significant problem

F350, auto, 6.4 liter. Under hard acceleration the engine runs horrible. It starts accelerating, then as the revs pick up to a certain point, it almost feels like the rev limiter is kicking in. The engine stops acceleration, the truck won't shift up, and it sounds like some of the...

Looking at new diesel trucks - want unbiased input

I like my F350 6.4 so far. I have put nearly 30K miles since purchasing it at the end of July 2008. I put a 9 foot flatbed on mine and it hauls oilfield equipment just about every day. I also added airbags on the rear to level out the heavy loads. I have 4.10 rear end with limited slip...

Fuel filters changed out this morning

The one under the truck is located on the inside frame rail under the driver's seat area. Pretty easy to spot.

    Lug nuts for 2008 F350

what is the actual lug nut size on the F350 (2008)? I read it's 13/16". Would 21mm be a better fit? Would it matter? David

Fuel filters changed out this morning

Changing the Fuel Filters is a simple job. A couple of folks on the forum gave me some tips and they came in handy so a big thanks for the help there. It's a pain in the butt to find a 36mm socket, but found one at NAPA for 17 dollars. Pricey, but it's cheaper than having the dealer change...

    A problem has arisen

didn't notice any smoke. But it hasn't done it anymore since I make sure to let the glow plug light go off and using cetane booster (Ford type)

What are you paying for fuel now?

Unleaded at TA truckstop in Slidell LA is 1.80 today. Diesel is 2.63 and falling. I paid 2.54 (diesel) in Baytown Tx yesterday at the Flying J truck stop (cash price was cheaper). Oh and in Baytown Tx, unleaded was about 1.55. :) I'm looking to see Suburban and Hummer sales go up again ;)

    reloading hangun ammo

oh-- but the caliber-- 45acp- I find it to be a nearly perfect round for self defense (in a handgun). Very forgiving for the reloader too. Can't beat the low pressure round. Ever see the "rules for a gun fight"? One of the rules was "if you must use a handgun, make sure the caliber begins...

    reloading hangun ammo

Hey, nothing wrong with that-- if it's your hard earned money (and these things ain't cheap) make sure you buy what you like. I'm not crazy about the P90 ergonomics- but that's me. I love 1911 designs (as well as others - like the XD45) and they seem to fit my hand perfect. There's a lot of...

    Question exhaust filter burn

I've only noticed mine come on two times. I noticed the engine sounded different and responded different each time. I have 28K miles on mine. It may have happened more than twice, I just may have missed it. But I drive all highway. I saw an announcement come on in the data display one...

    Ford Additive for 6.4 liter

a bit of an update, I've run through about 3 fill ups using the Ford additive and my mpg has gone up about 10%. The engine seems to be much more responsive when I put the hammer down on the hiway. An immediate thing I noticed was the mpg indicator shot up quite a bit while running the same...

    A problem has arisen

Hi, I have not had the problem with rough idle at cold startup. I'm letting the glow plug light go off before starting. Another thing I'm doing is running the Ford fuel conditioner with each fill up. My engine is running much better, and the mileage has improved noticeably. Not sure which...

    reloading hangun ammo

regarding powders- You will find Winchester W231 is superb for the 5" Colt 1911 as well as the Commander model. 231 burns clean and is very consistent shot to shot. It is one of the most widely used powders for 45acp. It's one of the least costly too. Have fun!

    reloading hangun ammo

I reload for 45acp. I have a Dillon 550B. It is well built, dependable, and easy to use and setup. Plus their monthly catalog is awesome! I have a Colt Commander btw. :) If you go to Dillons web site (Dillon Precision: Reloaders, Reloading Equipment, Bullet Reloading, Bullet Reloaders)...

    08 and blue smoke?

I've seen that before and I think it's normal for a puff of smoke to come out. Especially like you describe- during heavy acceleration, right at a shift change. If the smoke is dark blue and gets heavier, you might want to check it out. Of course, you might want to bring it to the attention of...

    A problem has arisen

OK, a problem has started with my 6.4. It has 24000 miles and maintenence is up to date. When I start the engine in the morning, it starts up fine but idles bad. If I rev it there is a knocking/tapping, or missing sound. Sounds bad. But-- If I shut off the engine and restart the problem...

    Ford Additive for 6.4 liter

I added the ford Cetane additive Tuesday evening to an empty tank. My tank holds 38 gallons so a added the proper amount of additive and filled up. I made a 400 mile trip and it does appear that this stuff helps. My mileage looks to be up. Only problem I see is the pain of adding the proper...

    Ford Additive for 6.4 liter

I'm starting to use the newer Cetane/Fuel conditioner from Ford for my 6.4 liter. (PM22A) Anyone use this? I'm adding 6.1 oz per 38 gallons (derived from the 4oz to 25 gallon ratio). Is anyone using this additive? Do you like it? Anyone use a higher ratio? I'm thinking it won't...

Patrick-- I want to add that you should copy the fuel filter change instructions and post on the DIY section. I looked there earlier and didn't see anything. David

    Fd-4604?? Fd-4609??

Very nice write-up on changing the filters! I can't wait to get started. I'm so glad I won't have to remove the fuel lines. When I saw the plastic connectors attached to the end of the fuel lines, I thought, Oh geez, something I'll break in the name of routine maintenance. :) Patrick-- on a...

trying to find fuel filters-- WHERE??

I found a place online that sells Motorcraft filters for 45 bucks. I bought that and some Ford fuel additice (approved for the 08 models). It was from KmansParts.com. Now that I found a couple of these places online, I'll start ordering ahead of time. Hopefully in the future the newer...
