What's the labor rates in your areas?

At 60, if I had perfect week and made 40 hours for a month straight I would pull almost 10k with just me as a tech, the building is listed for 85k, so I think I could more than make it. I know a perfect month is kinda a pipe dream for even the best techs. When I worked flat rate, I pulled...

What's the labor rates in your areas?

local independents range anywhere from 30, retired guy, home garage. To 60, depends on the shop. At 60, I would like to go by the no more than thirds rule.... building expense, utilities, bonding, insurance, property tax, etc my pay...I make 3100 a month now, if I could maintain that I...

What's the labor rates in your areas?

Wether or not you are religous, here is my story. For the past 6 or 7 years I have wanted to open a shop of my own, maybe hire another tech or two down the road. Long story short, part of the sermon today we wrote down something we were stumbling over on a business card for us to actually...

    Question '97 PSD MPG's

Something else too. You said you told him to go back to factory tires....if he didn't recalibrate his speedo when he changed tire sizes, his numbers are lying and that is why he can get 21-22. I have a zf5 spd and 3.55s and everyday I get 15 to 16. Granted, I don't try to hard to make good...

Question fuel guage reads way over full

A loose ground would have more resistance, if you have access to a signal generator that would be great, or you could go to radio shack and but a bunch of resistors and pots to make your own that runs in that ohm range....

    sd turbo on a obs?

The super duties are known for compressor surge for one. The only highpoint would be if you can get it complete all the way from the uppipes to the intakes, then you would be setup for a drop in ball bearing or something else. The aftermarket is alot bigger for super duties.

    crazzzy clicking sound!

Have keyless entry? Sounds like the 3 plug box you speak of is keyless entry module. As for your clicky clicky I second bad ground or bad connection, I can' t say exactly were though.

    Brake Pads

Just my opinion, but as long as it still stops good, I'll go cheaper on the pads, those high metallic pads eat up rotors, on a car where rotors are 20 bucks a piece who cares, they're not even worth turning, but our truck's rotors aren't cheap.

    injector Flow?

Look on the right bank valve cover near the oil fill, the epa sticker is blue on the cali models, they have splits, also they have a pulsation dampner on the fuel pumps, sort of a starship enterprise looking thing if you have one...

    injector Flow?

the obs splits, cali model 97 ONLY, flowed somewhere around 120, we flow somewhere around 93, these are MAX numbers. I think the sd splits are capable of 140 or so. Like was said though to flow the same fuel out of splits requires more hpop than singles do, that is why sd guys convert, plus...

hit the dyno this weekend.. confused..

I can make 30 at will with my 1s and a super chips microtuner, most I've made with a load is 36, just don't make a habit of it, I know the turbo don't like it.

    Alignment issue? Need camber specs....

UPDATE Well, tonight I finally got a little free time. I checked my toe by painting the center of the tire while spinning and scribing a line w/ an awl in the paint line, so the line would be same all the way around on both tires. Checked my toe and I had about 4 mm of toe OUT, as in the...

hit the dyno this weekend.. confused..

Like he said, with stock injectors you have good numbers, stock squirters aint good for much, get your stage 1's and you'll be grinning all the way to the rollers and back. Why not go ahead and get the ones? even with the edge you'll be happy, I still got my scmt and the 1s are an amazing...

    Alignment issue? Need camber specs....

Ya, I have had trouble finding one in the past and just tightened em with a screwdriver and hammer, I cut slots in the nuts w/ a diegrinder so I had something to get ahold of. Last month I checked my bearing adjustment so for kicks I went to Napa and looked, they had one in stock and were...

    Alignment issue? Need camber specs....

That's closer to what I thought, I still think it should be negative a bit. I went to lowes and bought a welders type of angle guage, so I can accurately tell the degrees, instead of ehhhh, looks like about 1*, or .....

    Alignment issue? Need camber specs....

Been having a problem for a couple months now, when I turn hard, left or right, truck wants to keep trying to turn itself left or right, doesn't want to center, pulls pretty hard. Sometimes does it at highway speeds, mostly to the right on the highway, sometimes left though. This winter in...

need info, homespun big oil in the works...

Naw I haven't. The figures I came up with are from the 7cc per revolution on the stock pump based on Swamps post back a few years. I am sure the flow figures are sound, and 4000 psi is more than enough, the biggest obstacle I see is the relatively low rpms available been as its driven at cam...
