Passing up on Ford b/c of body removal???

My buddy was looking at a used '08. The dealer had the body off three times in an attempt to fix a fuel leak, and also the thread below about the guy with a Y pipe replacement where the dealer removed the body as well.

Passing up on Ford b/c of body removal???

So I have a 7.3L now, and I'm considering a new truck. The fact that the new models require the body to be removed for many repair items has me scared off of the Ford diesel truck. How did you guys talk yourself into this? I'm planning on keeping my truck past the 100k warranty again, so...

    Superduty Gasser

The V-10 in my motorhome has the same experience: It's blown several plugs. I was told it was because it was torqued too tightly and also was told to ONLY use Motorcraft spark plugs (other brands can throw error codes). I've also replaced several coils. It's a 36' motorhizzle and I...

Slow cold starting: How to check GPR???

I'll check the manual again - I was told by a guy that rebuilds injectors to always use Rotella T. Don't remember seeing that they had the 10w, but I'll verify. Horse has already left the barn this winter, but I'll file this one away. Thanks guys!

Slow cold starting: How to check GPR???

Don't have a heater But I might look into getting one. Not sure since we don't have a lot of days below 30. But the truck does fire up. I'm not an early riser and getting up 2hrs before I leave for work in the AM would SUCK. Guess I need to think about a timer. Yet one more thing to...

Slow cold starting: How to check GPR???

Ah, yes. 2003 7.3L PSD It has an oil leak or two, guess I need to make sure it isn't the HPOP that's leaking - that might make it kinda hard to start, wouldn't it?

Slow cold starting: How to check GPR???

And what the heck is HPOP? That wasn't in the Powerstroke article.

Slow cold starting: How to check GPR???

So my truck was slow to start on really cold mornings and smokes like hades. Now, I replaced the batteries with 800 CCA Interstates but it still turned over pretty slow on a cold morning about 20 degrees ambient. I'm running the regular RotellaT motor oil. Still started, but scared the heck...

Thinking of trading in your diesel on gas??

Point #1 is definately true. But since I am a 'hobby' puller, the mileage I'll run towing is considerably less than the unladen mileage. I do recognize that. Point #2 is for sure, but that is also balanced by the lower acquisition costs of used vehicles. My deal here is that if diesel...

Thinking of trading in your diesel on gas??

So I have a 2003 7.3L crewcab 4x4. Like how my truck pulls my 3k lb boat and 6k lb trailer. A lot. Problem is my truck seats 5, and by February we'll have 6 in our fambly. So a different vehicle is in the mix most likely. Given that now diesel is still higher than gasoline, I crunched...

So what's the verdict on the 6.0L?

I currently have an '04 7.3L in a truck with 86k miles and am pretty pleased with it. Avg. fuel econ for me is roughly 15 MPG totally stock. No issues with motor other than alternator/batteries (ouch). I'm looking to trade that in on a PSD Xcursion. I have found a few 6.0L for sale, but...

    Ball Joints at 67k miles?????

Has anyone used poly bushings? That help instead of rubber?

    Ball Joints at 67k miles?????

I was hoping to hear something different, but I was thinking it was time for a brake job, too. Well, here's the $1,200 that I would have liked to spend on a tuner chip.

    Ball Joints at 67k miles?????

This common on SDs? Yes, I tow about 9k lbs and I do run this truck on gravel roads. Plus I have a vi bration at 43 mph and at 77 mph. I've had the tires rotated and balanced several times. I'm wondering if the ball joints are the reason that I have the vibration or the result? I've...

    VIDEO'S!! - Stock/4"muffler/4"straight pipe

Feedback Guess I'll be keeping a muffler. Thanks for posting. Although I tow a heavy trailer I'm not interested in more noise from my truck. In fact, I'd like to quiet it down a bit. Could this mean that I'm ready for a Duramax? Oh, say it ain't so! Maybe I'll just throw a bit of a...

    Brake problem, got any ideas??

Well, I'm guessing that works if the rotors/pads are glazed over.

12v to trailer turns off when ignition off

Anybody else have an issue with that? In our trailer I have 12v interrior lights that run off of the truck. It would be nice if they worked when the ignition is off. My buddy's DODGE does that. Any tips on where/how to fix that? I'm not really sure even where to begin.

    Tranny Problems after Sonnex Install

Yeah, that's pretty basic stuff there. It's very intermittent. But when it does it does it consistantly for a bit. Not sure what "fixes" it for the long(er) term, like shutting off the engine or what. It's just now getting hotter temps here so I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it...

    Tranny Problems after Sonnex Install

So I installed the shift kit and Sonnex stuff in my '03 250 crew 4x4. Ran fine no problems. I'd say 1-2k miles later or so, now it doesnt' want to shift into overdrive and/or lock the torque converter. When I am accelerating onto the freeway the RPMs will rise and not shift. If I turn OD...

7.3 Weak points? What Tranhy mods for towing are MANDATORY?

Well, installed the Sonnax/Tricum kit and I do indeed like it a lot better now. Shifts are way more positive and it doesn't unlock the conver at slight hills anymore. Haven't had a chance to tow with it yet (since I've a compression fracture in my T5 vertebrae I haven't been racing my...

small clunking sound in front suspension

Hmmmm...mine has been doing the exact same thing. '03 250 7.3 crew short box. I notice mine when I initially crank the wheel all the way to lock and I feel the clunk (and hear it) under my feet.

    Power when Towing

From what I'm hearing here an exhaust and MILD reprogram will do wonders and won't break your back on $$, either. When we pulled our race trailer (24' and 8k lbs) with my buddy's 95 PSD at 75-80 it was down shifting all the time, almost red-lining and not real friendly with fuel. Then I...

    Would you use

You can find Bio anywhere there is restaurant that fries anything. It is, after all, vegatable/peanut oil. But it is rather do it yourself. But you can't beat the price.
