How many miles on your stock 4R100?

I have 63,600 on my 2002 F350 my stock 4R100. So far so good, however I have had the trans flush/filter changed prior to every 30,000 miles. I have thought about synthetic fluid but the trans shop I deal with stated it would be a good choice if I tow/pull alot, which I don't.

    Rotella T Synthetic

I'm trying to figure that one out myself. I guess there can't be a whole lot of difference between major 15w40 oils Delvac vs Rotella/Rotella vs Delvac? I did notice my oil drain plug has a drip of oil now and then on it. I use the copper type washer, is that the cause? I don't want to over...

    Rotella T Synthetic

Dave, Funny thing, I was reading some information on Mobil Delvac 15w40. A PSD owner stated his 1996 was using 2 quarts between changes with Rotella 15w40. After changing to Delvac 15w40 no more oil consumption problems. I have never used Delvac 15w40 but I can believe it is an execellent...

    Rotella T Synthetic

Thanks Dave I was thinking on those lines also. Just concerned. Always hearing sometimes synthetics may increase oil useage. Funny how some PSD's use oil while others don't. Luck of the draw I guess. I was told by a Ford Tech a few years back, some PSD's use a quart or two between oil changes...

    Rotella T Synthetic

Just wondering about this? I know some of our 7.3's use some oil between changes and some don't. Mine uses about 1-1 1/2 quarts between changes using Rotella T 15w40. During next years cold season, I plan on going with the Rotella T Synthetic 5w40. Could my oil consumption increase...

    Changing my own oil

I saw the TS oil, must admit it is a good price, never tried it using Rotella T 15w40. Who makes the diesel oil for TS?

    Motorcraft 5w40 Synthetic Oil

I called a Ford Dealership in my area today. They do stock the 5w40 MC @ 4.23 per quart. Although, you can get the Rotella 5w40 cheaper at WM the dealer price is not as bad as I thought it could be. bot

    Motorcraft 5w40 Synthetic Oil

I agree, it would be great if WM or some of the many popular auto parts stores would choose to carry this oil. After all, there are many PSD owners out there. bot

    Motorcraft 5w40 Synthetic Oil

I guess we will have to wait and see on this one, but it is in the MC Lubricants/Chemical Catalogs section. Other than that, I think the Bob Is The Oil Guy has a pretty good site. bot

    Motorcraft 5w40 Synthetic Oil

OK I found it guys Bobistheoilguy.com When you get to the web page, click on the icon Bob Is The Oil Guy. You will see different oil group boards go the the HDEO and click. You will then see the MC 5w40 information. bot

    Motorcraft 5w40 Synthetic Oil

I was on another website and I see Motorcraft 5w40 Synthetic Diesel Oil. I didn't know it existed. I went to the Ford website and it does exist. I have of course used the MC 15w40 in the past, but changed over to Rotella T 15w40 a while back. The new MC 5w40 sounds like a decent choice but...

    Re: Wolf's Head 15w40

JL I also use the Rotella 15w40, so far so good. I have heard good things about the Kendall diesel oil. I guess the closest thing to the Kendall in the area auto stores arond me is the MC 15w40 made I think by Conoco-Phillips which I believe is tied in with Kendall? bot

    Re: Wolf's Head 15w40

WD40 According to what I have read, WH oil is the oldest out there. I see it once in a while (10w30/10w40) but yet to see the 15w40 in my area. I also hear the diesel oil that Castrol has is supposed to be decent. I was at a truck show last year (Carslile Pa) and saw the Castrol Diesel booth...

RB LOL, Not a chance Ford Powerstroke all the way. Honestly, he was the first diesel owner I spoke with who used or mentioned Wolf's Head. I plan to stick with Rotella. I have heard great things about Shaeffer's from many on various oil and diesel sites. bot

    Re: Wolf's Head 15w40

While out today, I was fueling up at a diesel station and this 2007 Dodge 2500 Cummins rolls in. The owner and I were talking and I could tell he had some serious mods to his rig. He stated he was pushing about 650 hp. I asked him what kind of oil he was running. He said Wolf's Head 15w40. I...

    Oil Spinner?

bushpilot I have also read on other Ford Diesel websites where some PSD owners are using the TS diesel oil. I'm not sure who makes it for them? I'm sure it is a decent oil. Just to touch base on the MC diesel oil, there is a Ford Dealer near me they only do diesel truck repairs on all...

    Oil Spinner?

bushpilot Yeah, 3 gallon case, I did a double take on that one. I know the Dodge Cummins/ Chev GMC Duramax owners will be happy they take less oil than we do with their oil changes. I guess at my Costco, I will need two cases which will cost me 54.00 I'll have to find the TSB regarding the...

    Oil Spinner?

I was in the Costco in my area recently and they have always carried the Rotella 15w40 6 gal case for 57.00 Now I noticed they only carry the 3 gallon case with the newly dsigned handled jug for 27.00 In Maryland, like in Va we can get some cold weather as you know. I have never had an...

    Oil Spinner?

bushpilot I thought you were happy with the Rotella 15w40. Me too so far.I guess the main thing is to keep the oil/oil filter changed every 5000 miles. With my truck I do the 6 month or 5000 which ever comes first, usually the 6 month period comes before the 5000 mile mark. I would say on...

    Oil Spinner?

bushpilot I agree with you on that one. Did you say you were running the 15w40 Rotella? I started using Rotella 15w40 a few oil changes ago. So far so good. I also know many PSD owners use Delo and Delvac. Of course I always use the MC FL1995.
