    Has anyone else seen this?

Same politicians that kept us from drilling kept us from building more refineries. Shocking to me how everyone wonders how this all came about. We haven't built a new refinery in 30 years, yet our fuel consumption has gone up some 300% over that period. And we wonder why we now have a supply...

Looking for information on a Detroit 318.

Your "winky eyebrows" guy makes me think that you are looking at this blower for a power adder. Sorry to disappoint, but the 6v53 (or any two stroke multi-cylinder engine) requires a blower to run. Instead of using case pressure to scavenge like a one-lung 2-stroker, multi-cylinder engines...

Looking for information on a Detroit 318.

Actually, the 318 Detroit is in teh 53 series, and is a 6 cylinder. You can get a 6-53 inline, or a 6v53 v-6, which is what they used in busses a lot back in the 60s and 70s. It won't be a powerhouse, as it is 180 horse naturally aspirated (unless you consider the 2 psi blower to be other...

    Has anyone else seen this?

We cannot cut useage. That is a pipe dream. The idea that people are driving a whole lot of useless miles right now that they don't need to be driving is bupkus. Folks drive as much as they need to, and cannot cut back on the miles any more than they can cut back on going to work every...

    HALLELUJIA

Four years ago, if somebody had told you that you would be saying HALLELUJAH to 4.79 a gallon diesel, would you have called him crazy as a loon? i know I would have... :tounge

    Think Our Fuel Is Expensive...........

Bush Pilot, I like your avatar. 'Bout time someone figured it out. They are dragging the oil companies in for "obscene" profits, and not even realizing that their contribution to the cost of fuel is 5 times what the oil company profits are. Politicians suck, and they are constantly diverting...

    EBPV??

If it will not open at all, my guess is your top speed is going to be about 33 MPH. If it is open a little bit, it will definitely retard your engine at all times. And engine working against a stuck exhaust valve could definitely manifest as transmission problems. What is you tranny doing...

BEFORE YOU GET MAD AT YOUR FORD READ THIS COMMENT

Except for the final, major head issue, so what? Like 4 less-than serious issues in 130,000 miles? That is pretty damn good. And what is more, that model year pickup had a serious problem with the injectors, which everyone I know that had one had chevy replace them quickly. Chevy even...

    Wandering Truck Solved!!!

Hey guys, after screwing around with this thing for what seems like forever, I finally solved the issue of my truck's wandering issues. It always checked out good on alignment tests. Tie rods were tight. Steering box tight. Ball joints were tight. And yet, it still wandered all over...

Hello, quick update. Well, okay, not quick. But quick by Hoss standards....

Update again Hey guys. I finally got the meds, and they have definitley helped. I got sick again after starting them, and was very worried that it was a downward spiral. I got a really bad fever, and was sure that I was e-room bound, but two hours later, fever was breaking, and 6 hours later...

    Better MPG

None of it will help enough to ever pay for itself even if diesel hits 5 bucks a gallon. I've gotten 17 out of my truck since the day i bought it stock. I've AFE'd it, Donaldson'd it, strait piped, walker BTM, etc, etc. I still get 17. Don't do it for fuel savings. It won't pay off...

    long cranking time, smokes

The Ford dealer is starting with the most expensive and working their way down, apparently. Hard and smokey starts in a glow plugged diesel almost always means glow plug issues. My best guess is that your glow plug relay is fritzed. This is a piece of cake, about 50 bucks at Napa. It...

    Stalls and stops running etc

Last I checked, at around 7-8 quarts of oil, these trucks will shut down for lack of injector pressure. Also, the CPS can happen anytime and can be intermittent like that. Top off your oil and change the CPS, then get back to us if it happens again...

    regearing question

Buy the truck you want. IMHO, anyway. The rear axle hubs are DRW, which means the swap to SRW is not totally straightforward. Then, you have to get rid of the big wheel wells, and the paint on the bed will be all messed up by where the wells attached. You''l drop a grand per axle to...

    Price of Ammo!!

Cost of brass and lead have gone up, but I still suspect that there is some sort of special super secret "sin" tax being put on ammo by our wonderful politicians. A few years back it was openly proposed. Something like a 500% tax on handgun ammo to "discourage criminals from buying...

Ford Super Duty pickups are super for smugglers

Kind of reminds me of the old urban legend about the liberal reporter that asks a force recon sniper in Afganistan "what do you feel when you kill one of the Taliban Freedom Fighters from a distance that he had no chance to fight back?" And the sniper replies... "recoil" :hail

    $12,000.....

Sometimes we get attached to a truck, spending so much time with it that we forget that it is just a piece of iron that can easily be replaced. I'm awfully sorry about your truck, but relieved as hell that your son is okay. He would be a lot harder to replace. Awful sorry for the bad...

    Had a good laugh.

Forgive my ignorance. How does the PVC not melt? Dummy stacks? If so, then I hope that some quick, painless accident renders this man incapable of reproducing for the good of all mankind. :tounge

Hello, quick update. Well, okay, not quick. But quick by Hoss standards....

They are not denying me treatment, just making sure that cheaper treatments don't work before prescribing the expensive ones. By expensive, I'm talking 40K a year. The only thing that I am angry at them about is the amount of time it takes to get a decision. That is just plain and simple...

Hello, quick update. Well, okay, not quick. But quick by Hoss standards....

Hey guys, me again. I just got back to work after a month on disability and that means I just got back in front of a computer again to write in and let you all know how I’m doing, in case any of you are wondering. First off, being a guy that has lived my entire life proud of the fact that...

    Clutch Slippage

So I put it in 4th gear, gave it some throttle, and with my foot on the brake, slipped the hell out of the clutch until i smelled it. So far, i have not been able to get it to slip. That could be because the cold wet weather here doesn't allow for enough tire grab to cause a slip. But i...

    Clutch Slippage

Interesting thought. i am VERY easy on clutches. So is my wife. I wonder if we did glaze it up. Maybe i'll run a little hard on it for a couple days to see if it sets up. What can it hurt?

    Diesel Leak

It is so common when the weather gets cold, I'd bet $100, definitley $100 that it is the problem.

    Cold Start=No Start

Sorry, I just noticed the subfreezing part. That would make it pretty hard to start without GPs.
