    Help Needed Diesel acting funny

Got some nasty snow and ice here in Afghanistan yesterday, but not nearly as bad as the states. I ride around in an open Gator with mud tires on it; not great for ice.

    Shift lever rattle

My shift lever feels loose when in any gear and rattles. I don't have access to an illustration or breakdown showing what may be wrong. This, along with the locks, mirrors and overhead console not working are driving me nuts! BTW: all the powered accessories have power, just don't work...

    Cup Holders

For years I have been dealing with broken cup holders by rigging them open. Now, the final plastic hinge piece finally broke and rendered the assembly useless. Is there a better solution than spending what may be a rediculous sum for an OEM part that may break again or am I stuck? I've seen ones...

    Help Needed Diesel acting funny

Agreed; I would also have him check all sensors (CPS, ICP, etc). Depending on mileage it may be their time. I've bought stuff from Dieselsite and have no complaints. That set of boots look top quality and is cheaper than other sites I usually shop.

    Help Needed Diesel acting funny

Check all the boost tube boots; my guess is he's still using the stock Ford ones, which can blow out under moderate boost. I would suggest checking one of the sponsors for the upgraded silicone boots and better clamps, which should be available as a set.

Ford recall 1.8M trucks and SUV - 7.3L CPS!! **Main Discussion thread**

Took out my IH blue and put in the old one, took it to the dealer who replaced it under the recall. Once home I put the blue back in and kept the new one as a spare. So far 75,000 miles on the IH CPS with zero issues.

    Towing with the 6.7L

I've driven similar 2011's in both models, and a Ram for comparrison. For the magazine both were picked up in Detroit brand new and broken in on the trip to Colorado. Seems odd to me, also, but the Ford could have been a "Monday" truck. I didn't read anything too sinsiter into the article...

    Towing with the 6.7L

Diesel Power magazine just did a feature on this very question; they got two new duallies from Ford and Chevy and towed 18,000 pounds up an 11,000 foot pass in Colorado. Not only did the Chevy pull the load up hill much faster, it's turbo brake feature and transmission worked much better at...

    Free spin conversions

Looking at doing every upgrade I want while I still have the money to do it, and this is one of those things I want. I would rather have it than wait for a bearing to go out a thousand miles from home towing a camper. Short term investment, long term piece of mind.

    Led light pictures

I am planning on a full smoked LED conversion to my truck and would like to see pictures of everyones rigs. I'm painting the truck flat black, and replacing the bumpers with painted ones.

Question My truck sucks at towing, and here's why

I had to tow with it completely empty to get weighed for a move years ago; even with the bars set at correct load it still pulled like crap, though I hadn't done anything to the truck yet. Other than kids clothes and maybe 50# in tools and needed RV accessories (jack handle, chocks, extension...

Question My truck sucks at towing, and here's why

I agree; a truck with "Super Duty" in the name should tow this little bit of weight like it was nothing, but I pulled it better with my 1/2 ton 94 Chevy with 250,000 miles. Trailer, cheap/poor hitch, questionable maintenance/worn parts=bad situation.

    Free spin conversions

Everyone, I have a set of 06' 18's that I am going to use; the only problem is they rub a bit and will use spacers. However, I need to upgrade to a free spin conversion first. So far the only ones I've seen are the Dynatrac and SpynTec systems. Any opinions on which is best?

Question My truck sucks at towing, and here's why

Truck has factory tow package with front and rear sway bars. Tires 80 all the way around now, though have played with pressures form 60-80; definetly better with more pressure. Cheap equalizer and sway control that came with the deal; chain hooks on trailer frame are bent and have lost...

    Airbagit v/s firestone

Cost is not much of a factor, as the AIRBAGIT system is about $3,600 shipped and the Firestone about $2,200. I've heard bad things about the AIRBAGIT, as well, but wanted to hear from the experts- those of you who actually use these systems. The main reason for wanting the AIRBAGIT is due to...

    Towing turbo; upgrade or replace?

We had freinds that lived right on the creek many years ago; they had a really nice house on about 5 acres. I have inlaws in Bama; that sign shoud actually be put in front of all the public schools, as it perfectly describes their education system.

Question My truck sucks at towing, and here's why

Trailer is a 27' Starcraft bunkhouse. I've loaded 2 yards of mulch in the bed and it weighed more than the trailer tongue did; it sagged quite a bit more, though I left a pimped out Civic choking on my smoke when the light turned green (guess he should have gotten off of the Blackberry and...

Question My truck sucks at towing, and here's why

Wow, everyone, thanks for your responses. Since most are similar I'll just do a mass response. Truck is completely stock; no lifts or huge tires. My tires are 10 ply; had them changed out over the summer to replace a set of 8 plys. Pressure is running max front and 70 rear, filled with...

Question My truck sucks at towing, and here's why

I pull a 3 ton TT with a 750# tongue load, which pushes the truck all over the road; installed are torsion style equalizers and a friction sway hitch. When hooked up I can't keep the truck within my lane half the time and is pretty scarry. I've done nearly everything to correct it, including all...

    Towing turbo; upgrade or replace?

Yep. Liked it there when I lived off Old St Augustine years ago; now almost unrecognizable. Good point; I've been thinking about stage 1 or 2 single shots and would need more airflow. Don't want to waste money on one upgrade and have to redo it.

    Silverstar Ultra headlights

They make a couple of different patterns in the Silverstar line; I got a set for night driving that puts out a much wider pattern to the side of the road and really light things up. Next light mods will be projector headlights with a Britebox and HID conversion; that will light things up for...
