    Well Crap..............

THAT is a sweet truck. I'm thinking of getting rid of the 08 and 03 for a new one. Wife doesnt want to have a dually as the only pickup, unless it's another flatbed. I'm not sure I want a flatbed as the only pickup... we'll see...!!

What can be done about "warped" rotors?

I have a set of Powerslots on mine, front n rear with 80-90K on them, have towed a bunch, hauled big loads etc over Donner Summit n others. No warping or other issues-Hawk pads tho I couldnt tell you what "color". I had the rotors cryo'd which is the same as the Frozen Rotors and they support...

    Wrecked my injectors/HPOP...

Cps SMOKNZ Have you ever changed out the CPS? If you had good oil pressure (either OEM gauge or aftermarket) the HPOP didnt get starved, I'm thinking. The stalling/loping symptom makes me think of that pesky crank pos sensor.... A scan is a great idea...even if no SES/CEL is on...

    7.3L Towing weight???

You'll be fine Our horse trailer (4horse Trails West trailer (steel) with 3 big saddlehorses and gear for 5days at a line camp comes in right at 9500lbs. Thats well under the GCVW for your pickup. That setup is hauled with the below SRW rig; even before the flatbed was put on and when it...

Wanting to buy a (stick) welder but have no clue what size I need

If you are going to be welding strictly in the shop, then wire feed is the only way to go. I routinely build/repair corral panels (reeeal thin metal-16ga) to repairing ranch equipment with the same Miller. Waay simpler and easier than stick. Even I can do it. But if you are going to be...

    Air Filter

Absolutely Donaldson/AIS. Flows huge amounts of air (especially if you do some version of opening up the intake) and the filter is very effective! Mike

    I/C tubes

I am gonna pull the tubes off (from the intake to the I/C) this weekend. The aluminum foil insulation is getting shabby looking, so want to peel it off. Anyone done that?? Any hassles with the stuff? Then going to have them powdercoated. Thinking either black or black :sly but wondering...

    locking hubs

I too have Warn Premiums and no complaints. But Dynatrac recently came out with their version of the Warn. If it is as good, as well made as the rest of their stuff they deserve a look.. Mike

    stuck thermostat?

Yup, the trans sending unit is after the cooler-I didnt know about the "test plug" on the driver's side till a little while ago...as a result the trans temp is very sensitive to cold OATs. Pulled 3 big saddle horses (the only kind:sly) over the summit last week. Temp was about 40, trans temp...

    stuck thermostat?

I had initially put the sender on the bypass port, but then took that port up with the coolant filter hose. Thought about putting a T in there but not enough room. Guess I could have placed a T over where the factory sending unit is, but the filter head was handy.....or so I thought! :D:D...

    stuck thermostat?

My explanation must have been bad...:sly The temp sender is mounted on the filter head, the alum piece, on the side. Gets coolant from the bypass port thru one of the check valves. When the filter was plugged (full) it didnt allow flow up from the stat housing thru the filter system...

    stuck thermostat?

fixed it..finally Bought an infa red thermometer. Checked the temp at the bypass port of the thermostat housing, then the other end of the hose at the filter head; went from ~190 to ~90. Couldnt figure out why such a drop xcept for no flow?? Called Bob Riley, he said it means a plugged...

    stuck thermostat?

Well, lets see... Initially, new pump, belt(properly routed according to the diagram), pullys, coolant filter changed. New coolant. Seemed ok first couple of drives. Then the trip over the Summit, cold OAT, stopped for traffic for couple hours. Had to turn up the heater more than...

    stuck thermostat?

I'm stumped Well, replaced the thermostat w/an Autozone OEM. No change. Replaced the sending unit. No change. Put cardboard in the grill. No change. Kicked it. No change. Now issued is compounded by 10* temps outside and literally 2' of snow in the driveway. Needed it to pull...

    Question Brakes all 'round

Joe Did u get OEM calipers or aftermarket (SSBC etc)?
  23. M

    stuck thermostat?

Yup, I figured it was a bad thermostat. Till I replaced it. Still wont warm up(according to the Autometer gauge..) it barely clears the 100deg mark. Yet factory gauge reads just like it always has. Heater works. Seems to run ok. Trans gauge is a little on the cool side, but our temps here...

    Question Brakes all 'round

The mileage is about right... I replaced mine about that time, maybe a little earlier on the fronts. Went Powerslot cryo rotors and Hawk pads on the front, Powerslot cryos and Raybestos HD pads on the rear (no one in town had Hawks in stock at the time) and totally happy. Have about 80K on...
