First long fifthwheel pull with new 6.7 PSD

Thanks Joe! Did you pull your 5er in Tow /Haul only? I used Tow/Haul until we reached the flat land south of Atlanta, then I just used reg Drive and it seemed OK because it didn't have to downshift on small grades, but went back to Tow/Haul when there were several miles of smaller hills in central...

First long fifthwheel pull with new 6.7 PSD

Thanks for the complete Oil rundown Kristolson--I changed the oil-Ford dealer actually gave me the first on free at 3,500 miles (no pulling). I noticed they put in 10w 30 Motorcraft after I started my first pull down to Fla (about 1,100 miles) Do you think this hurt my engine in any way and...

First long fifthwheel pull with new 6.7 PSD

Ratchet--I averaged 64 mph on the highway (Interstate 65 S) ,but the 6.7 PSD seemed to be comfortable at that speed. I ran some speeds pulling the 5r above 75 with no problems ,but the mileage dropped off so I returned to the 64-5 range.

First long fifthwheel pull with new 6.7 PSD

Thanks Big Joe for the reply! Hope your hauling new 6.7 PSD feels as awesome as mine when you take a longer trip! Let me know when you decide on the best Air Intake system forf the new 6.7 All-Ford PSD. What's scary is it doesn't seem to need much improvement at 400 HP and an incredible 800 Ft...

Glad to report my new 2012 Ford F-250 ,6.7 PSD ,SuperCab,3.31 rear gear pulled our 40 ft 6 inch Designer Fifthwheel from Indiana to Pine Island ,Fla a total of 1,265 miles averaging 13.7 MPG. The new FORD F-250 with Air Lift air springs towed the 15K+lbs Designer with ease, and was much more...

    Oil??

Yes--Mine is a 3.31 too. I hauled 13 squares of shinngles twice this week for about 50 miles, and the TOW/HAUL mode on the new 6-speed Tranny worked great. I guess the Electronic 3.31 rear gear can be locked in limited slip mode for low speed pulling by the control on the dash board--Have you...

    Oil??

I think on my new 6.7 PSD the oil change is monitored and change times/miles are displayed when needed. Mine only has 2,000+ so not ready to change. Best read your Ford Manual on Oil Changes. I don't think there's any recommendation for ANY OIL Suppliments-in Fact Ford says NO! I would stick to...

    6.7 PSD engine/trans mods?

Once again THANKS for the specific towing/hauling informatione Zak 61! I'll definitely take your advice on weighing my truck and Fifthwheel. I checked on a factory rear leaf to add to my F-250 since that is one of the main differences between the F-350 and F-250. What would adding the extra...

    6.7 PSD engine/trans mods?

Thanks for the valuable towing info ZaK! Never had a good place to actually weigh my fifthwheel -a Designer dry weight at 11,730 lbs. My old F-350 7.3 (11,500 package) handled the 40' 4" Designer well with Air Bags. The new F-250 is rated with 400HP to tow more (16,300 lbs towing=SuperDuty 2WD...

    6.7 PSD engine/trans mods?

Thanks Waynebudke for the encouraging 6.7 PSD F-250 info! I know that the main difference between the F-250 and F-350 is one less leaf in the rear springs and possibly a four vs two inch lift block under the rear springs. I am adding an Air Lift system like I used succesfully with my 2001 F-350...

    Fuel mileage. Whats normal?

Take off the factory muffler and run a straight exhaust. Make sure your tires are up to highest pressure acceptable and add a larger exhaust tube from the turbo to the straight exhaust--this should pick up both power and a couple more MPGs! PS-Don't take off too fast--Good Luck proXJC!
