    If you are looking to upgrade your battery cables I ordered a complete set from custombatterycables.com and love them. Very heavy duty and much improved from stock. Granted, mine is an '01 with a 7.3 but I'm sure it would be an improvement from stock and may help narrow your issues down some.

    ^ I would agree with the IDM being a possible factor. I replaced mine a few months ago thinking it may be the culprit. At 300k miles I figured it was a good time to replace it anyways.

    I would agree with the advice above, including checking your pedal assembly under the dash. I have just shy of 300,000 on my ZF with zero issues.

    My '01 rides like, well, a truck. I do like the firmness of it but it jostles the wife around some lol. Like you, I searched for months for a manual.     Did you have to pull the clutch off to remove the shim? I have heard of this before and now my '01 is doing the same thing. If this doesn't work I guess I'll get the gauges and vacuum out and troubleshoot. I guess a new clutch wouldn't hurt either since it has 235K on it.
