got some goodies ordered for the ol 95

Chris- Having a manual transmission gives you slightly different gearing, though I can't recall if yours is geared higher or lower because of the tranny. Also, if the speedometer hasn't been recalibrated, that can make a fairly big difference. Prior to recalibrating mine, my speedometer was off...

got some goodies ordered for the ol 95

Chris- Has your speedometer been recalibrated? If not, that could easily explain the discrepancy in rpm/speed.

got some goodies ordered for the ol 95

    I've got 4.10's and 35" tires, and at 2000rpms, I'm running at 69.5mph. Is that close enough? :) :)

Good price for AIC on eBay

I got one from eBay for only $86, and it works great. I'm sure the reason I managed to get mine so cheaply was the seller described it as an RPM controller, so anyone doing a search for an AIC wouldn't have had it included in the search results. There was only one other bidder on it. BTW, the...

got some goodies ordered for the ol 95

I've done the math, and since you're tires won't be that much taller than before, (slightly over 2"), the effect of the gear change will be considerably greater than the change in tires. If my math is right, at 70mph, you'll now be doing 2138rpm. Once you've got everything changed over, let me...

Good for you, Brian!! It sounds like your truck will be going through quite a transformation. Provide pics as you "morph", eh?

Brian- would you care to tell us how you know that??? :) :)

    Exhaust band clamps

They're especially good for connecting the two parts of a downpipe, since there isn't much clearance up there.

    Power Service

It's good that you found your solution, and great that you were willing to share it. You might also try Stanadyne in your fuel. Many like it even better.

    Injectors In

I'm looking forward to getting my Stage I's from Bean soon. It only took you 6 or 7 hours, and this was your first time pulling the valve covers, wasn't it? That's pretty good!

    Time for new Batteries???

I've put 75000 miles on my current batteries in the past 3 years. Is it time or miles that make y'all recommend replacing them? Mine haven't shown any sign of age, but I never go a day without driving the truck, so they don't get an opportunity to discharge from lack of use.

Hello, Rick! It's good to see you. I'm glad you found this place. Scott.

    OBS 94-97 section

For what it's worth.... What I like about TDS is that the forums are split into the different generations of engine, so you know where people are coming from, plus I've made a lot of friends there. What I don't like about FTE is that all Powerstroke discussion is lumped into one forum, so...

    BD Dyno Days, April 23

If I'd had the chance to go, I would have been noising it up pretty good, but once I saw the date of the event, I knew it wasn't in the cards. I've heard Jimmie Newton and Roy are both going to be there this time, though.

    BD Dyno Days, April 23

I'd be all over that like white on rice if it wasn't the same day as my Grandson's first birthday party. After all, I'll have my new Stage I's in by then, and would love to go up and run the truck on the dyno, and see all my Canadian buddies. October for sure!!

Let us know if you have any ideas

Give yourself a little credit, Brian! Do you remember a day well over a year ago that you walked me through pulling injectors on my truck for the first time? You gave me your work phone number, and told me to call you if I had any more problems. I wrote your number down on the sheet of cardboard...

    Injector removal

Mr. Gebel!! Nice to see you!! When I've purged the cylinders of the "suspect fluid", I've done it with the injector in and the glow plug out. That keeps the stuff from running back down the injector hole. I suppose either would work, though. I'd heard that having the injector out would just...

towcat- I ain't the least bit worried about you IDI guys encroaching. On the contrary, I think the name should be general enough that y'all feel at home. Sorry if my thoughts weren't better stated. If I'm not mistaken, the term F-Superduty was used on F450 and larger trucks in the early 90's...

Let us know if you have any ideas

I'm new here, so I won't be surprised if my suggestion isn't immediately adopted, but having the heading "Ford Superduty Discussion" over all the forums that pertain to Ford diesel engines is a bit of a misnomer. Under that heading, there's a forum for "6.9 and 7.3L IDI Discussion (Non Power...

    Injector removal

Click here, and here. I'll be getting my Stage I's from Bean in about a week and a half, and will be swapping them out in about two weeks. I've pulled injectors before, so this shouldn't be too hard. If I run across something that I think is noteworthy, I'll let y'all know.

Hi, Brian! I may be old, and I may be slow, but I'll eventually catch up with where the action is. :)
