agreed on the IC flex hose connections...clean 'em GOOD clean the
inside of the rubber flex hose too...and then apply some silly-cone ;)
and wrench those clamps down.

its been found that once the hoses are removed they tend to blow
rather frequently...and thats probably from the CCV-blow-by oil
making the mate between the two connections slick.

ive NEVER had mine blow...but i also know i have tightened the
clamps beyond spec.

the reoccuring turbo replacement stinks of a dealer or repair
facility that doesnt know what theyre doing...i dont know 'bout the
unstable idling.

but the low power and puffing black smoke (and error codes)
point to possible egr problems...im not recommending this but
you might consider pulling the egr connection to see if things
settle down...

how are they "limiting" power ? and who is "they"...is it the dealer ?
ive never heard of anyone being able TO reduce the power output.

the PUKING of coolant is an issue w/ the degauss bottle...the lower
fill level reduces it....but if yours got hot/low on coolant you may have
blown a head gasket...the only real way to determine is to pull an
oil sample and see what the coolant content is (you might find
fuel content is up too...if youve got bad injectors or injector seals)

the other option is to test for combustion gasses in the coolant
(you can do this at the degauss bottle too)...personally id do the oil
sample test (blackstonelabs.com) and the combustion gasses test...
and see what you come up w/.

its no doubt some of the 1st 6.0L were problematic...but i think youll
find a LARGE amount of the problems were due in fact from a lack of
training and understanding by the dealer shops on how the 6.0L works.

some one should be questioning WHY ANYONE would go thru FOUR turbos
and STILL have problems (kinda tells ya, it AINT the turbos)...it sounds
like someone isnt taking the time to PROPERLY diagnose & trouble shoot
the truck....attn. should be given to the VGT & EBPV solenoids the work
hand in hand w/ the EGR valve and one will have a direct impact on
the operation of the others

this guys site is a good read on some of the issues the 6.0L have had,
and hes one of the 1st to say alot of the "unresolved" issues are due
in part to a lack of training --> FDDTS - Articles

I agree with Bush on this assessment. It sounds like the dealer is fixing a result of the problem, but not the actual problem. Do y'all have the option of having another dealer looking at the trucks just to get a second opinion. I would be very leary of dealer that has replaced a part 4 times but hasn't corrected the problem.:2c

First, is this a Ford Dealer diagnosing and performing repairs or is this the City/County shop? I've seen the magic worked by our city shop and heard the excuses and such. Some dealers are no better.

Thanks

Ok , They are the Ford Dealerships the County has been sending the trucks to. The County seeems to switch between two different ones depending on who they are pissed at. I agree, I think this has become just a change the broke parts and not a figure out why the part failed type of ordeal. The cooler on both of our trucks and a few more have blown apart at the sides of the cooler. Once we were told the vanes in the turbo were overboosting. Not sure. I have been having to learn the way these engines were designed myself. Th hoses were cleaned and replaced like you all have said but they still come off sometimes. Not as much as before though. The trucks are idled up around 1200 - 1500 rpms while sitting on scene. We have to or like someone else mentioned the batteries would go dead trying to run all the lights. Th ecutting of power was done by the dealership or so our County shop told us. When the truck was new it would set you back in the seat on take off and now you can put it to the floor and it has to get rolling before it will take off. Kinda like the old turbo engines many years ago. we were told they changed the programing to make this happen. Oh yeah I forgot to tell you all we had also been told that the problems were coming from letting off the fuel pedal to fast. That was the first problem fix. I would hat to have to stop all of a sudden.

Thanks Guys

That solution is total BS... I think you guys need to contact Ford directly and fill them in on what's going on. Which ever two shops you're working with are a bunch of tards.

It's true you can get into an overboost condition, but blowing the tanks off the coolers is a bit much. There are plenty of guys on here running more than 30 PSI and haven't had that happen yet, or loosing the boots as far as that goes. I think someone likes their bills being paid by your county...

Contact Ford and get a third dealership involved, and tell them that Ford's been contacted because of the poor performance of the other dealerships.

I wouldn't think the winches should hurt airflow too much. I have an '04 that I use to surf fish. Truck has 6'x3' aluminum rack on the front that I haul a 150 qt cooler, two 50 qt coolers and two 7 gal water tanks. Truck has never run hot even on the beach in august.

My Thinking Too

The winches sit down in front of the bumpers and do not block the air. The rucks have never ran hot, even during our 100 degree days. The 03 temp gauge did show the truck was running hot but the engine was not any hotter than normal. Think that was just another malfunction maybe. I hope the dealers get some better techs to work on the trucks. When they are running like they suppose to they do perform well.

Thanks,

I bet if you approached a different dealer and told 'em how frustrated
you are w/ the non-repairs...they MIGHT see it as an opportunity to
make you 1) happy and 2) their NEWEST customer

i dont care if a dealer doesnt make the HIGHEST labor rates when
doing warrenty work...theyre the one that signed up to be a dealer and
perform service...not to mention the fact that they DO get paid (which
is better than making NOTHING),

ford might be having financial issues but i dont see very many dealers
goin' belly up...hell most are GROWING !

the "letting off the throttle" issue is what most call turbo farting...
the EBP Valve (exhaust back pressure) valve is basically the waste
gate & SHOULD prevent over-boosting. sometimes when you let off
quickly when under heavy throttle youll get a burp (or fart) its really
a result of sudden back pressure (and although i dont know exactly
how the ebpv works) it suddenly opens under these conditions.

btw the backpressure is vented thru the air box or air intake...

and it stands to reason if youre low on power or having egr issues
you COULD be having ebp valve problems too.

codes reflecting these devices having issue SHOULD be set if
theyre not performing properly.

this sounds like a pile of BS....i agree w/ getting another dealer involved...i don't think your getting anything solved by using the same dealer to fix the same problem that keeps happening.
