THe 03-04.5 have 10 vanes. 04.5-05 12 vane 05 and up have 15 vanes. the problem with the turbo was the vanes sticking open and causing turbos to fail. some guys got lucky but around where i live i know of 6 6.0s all with replaced turbos. my town is 2400 people probably counting cats and dogs
the whine or screech u heard was due to the quick spool up of the 10vane. if u miss it u can actually swap the current turbo for a 10 vane. i think you just need to get a different turbo pestital. some of the guys i used to talk to at TDS reported ganes of hp with the 10 vane due to teh quicker spool
