I use the rear view to see how far to put the boat trailer in the water, or where the boat is at in comparison to the trailer.
I agree with the others, just use your mirrors..

I used to professionally install window film so it's pretty easy to get knocked out
Other than removing the old film it is. The few times I have removed film it was a pain in the .... you know. Is there an easier way?

Now I'm thinking about the rear side door windows... How does that hold up with the window going up and down... Does it scratch?
The cheaper films available at wal-mart or other cheapo stores will scratch but high quality film will not. We have had the side windows tinted in our X for a couple of years and the side windows in my 96' have been done for at least 5 years and both are scratch free. Both vehicles were professionally done at Auto Trim Design..

I took the dive and put Limo (5%) over top the factory on the side windows and the rear window... ITS BLACK! and I love it... If Michigan would only let us do the front side windows...

Thanks for all the help....

Are they real strict about it? It is also illegal here but as long as you don't go real dark they seem to let it slide.

I see alot of people with it, but..... That one time you don't want to get pulled over, and some cop decides to, it could cost a pretty penny... So, to me, its not worth it.....

Back when I had my Goat I installed limo on the rear window and the half-windows in the suicide doors. I really liked the darkness and if I needed to back up I"d just use the mirrors. If oyu want to tint the front windows you can usually get away with about 1 or 2 steps over the legal limit (mine are). Plus I drive with my windows down a lot except at night time, and cops will not be able to tell at night unless you are running 5%. IMO 20% is perfect for front windows.

Luck with it.

I would not say easy but it would be easier without a slider. There is a bit of an art to putting on tint and it can really look like crap if the installer doesn't do it right. I get mine done professionally just for that reason. With high quality tint and some patience you can do-it-yourself but take your time.

I can't see crap out of my back windows at night, that's what mirrors are for!! Black it out, looks better that way!

I have to drop my backseat window to see anything at night, for backing up. You get used to it, go for it!

I'm in agreement with Swany. In California they'll let you tint your back window as dark as you like (as long as you have door mirrors on both sides). Mine is really dark. Advantages are that at night you don't get that blinding glare in your rear view mirror from tailgaters and during the summer time if you park facing away from the sun the cab stays cooler. They require the side windows to be of a lighter tint but if properly installed they won't get scratched by the electric door mechanism. If I were you I'd remove the factory rear tint and re-tint it rather than adding a second layer.

I would not attempt to remove the OEM tint. My outlaws :D are in the window replacement business. That tint is more of a coating and is applied by the manufacturer. Just tint over it
