With the help of CHPMustang I have finally gotten around to doing this mod. The purpose of the mod is to remove the large air flow obstruction created by the air intake heater probe. This mod may not be appropriate for those in northern climates. Again, my pics are too large to upload so I will have to link them..........sorry.

Parts required, One Dodge Cummins oil pan drain plug 22mm x 1.5 thread. I purchased this one at O'Reilly Auto Parts.

Pic 1

Notice the difference in length.

Pic 2

I first had to remove my Aeromotive fuel regulator to get to the AIH.

Pic 3

Removing AIH.

Pic 5

Put a couple of wraps of teflon tape on the threads and install the plug.

Pic 7

Remove the hot lead wire from the solenoid and the mod is done. The ground wire can be tucked away and left in place. Now air flow will not be interupted by large AIH obstruction.

What are you guys doing about the AIH error code on the computers, or are you not getting one?

All I did was pull the Red wire and re-attached the blue PCM wire back to the solenoid,no probs with codes or negative performance issues. :)

The IAH has been out off our intake for about 2 years now.

Did you remove the red wire that ran between the solenoid and IAH unit as the red wire is bolted under the blue wire at the solenoid ;)
