Be very careful looking at the Wildcat or any other lower line Forest River products. FR seems to be one of the worst when it comes to build quality and overall fit and finish. Value/content for the dollar is good with Forest River, but you will pay for it in the end more often than not. The higher lines such as Cedar Creek and Cardinal are better, but I have heard plenty of horror stories with those as well. They have some fabulous floor plans and options dressed up with beautiful colors/trims, just pay real good attention to what's underneath all of that!

As was mentioned, dealer knowledge/service is the key with ANY rv. Buy from a reputable dealer that knows how to do more than just "push" units. Service after the sale is something you are positively going to need with any brand. It's just the nature of the product. Your buying assembly line manufactured housing!

We camp as a "family unit" (in laws and ourselves/daughter) and have just wrapped up picking out a replacement unit for a Forest River disaster that was bought new in July 2005. This was a Cherokee model which is another one of their lower priced lines. After nearly 10 trips to the dealer and one trip back to the factory in Indiana, we are finally rid of that lemon. The dealer didn't help the situation (unit pusher), but the trailer itself was just sub par. Fit, finish, slide out leaks, many issues. Going back to the manufacturer only caused other problems in lieu of the ones they attempted to fix.

Shop hard, and pick your dealer wisely!

As far as Keystone, our shopping revealed these to be some of the better units. The Montana, Mountaineer and Cougar lines are some of the most popular on the market for there respective price ranges.

We ended up going with a Fleetwood product, which are also IMO, of higher build quality than many others. It arrives near the end of January. VERY excited!

Best of luck with your search. Take your time and really look ANY brand/model over closely.

Didn't think about that, but it's a great idea when trying to get an idea of a builders reputation. Sounds like GOOD customer relations as far as Nuwa is concerned. There is a Forest River forum and I'm pretty sure they avoid it like the plauge! The Fleetwood rep we delt with was phenomonal which went a long way towards picking one of their products. Delt with the rep, who THEN set us up with a good dealer. Hoping for much better success this time. Going with a Regal 5'er if anyone wants to check those out. Two bedroom 365BHTS with bath and a half, since we are really two families camping at once. Families that camp together, stay together!

WD: What's the weight/length of your HitchHiker? Do you have the Tow Boss pkg on your 350? Just curious what you are hauling and how your specd. out.

Nevermind, I just read your sig!

Take a look at the Grand Teton line. Probably the best out there. Company is based in Wyoming. Its expensive but its all luxury and very well built. And a great warranty!

Nice site.

Thanks again for all the good information. Today I went to two other dealerships, and looked at some Keystone Laredo's, and some Prowlers. I was not impressed. The second dealership had some Wildcats, which looked better than the Larego and Prowlers. We looked at the 29rlbs first, and wife did not like the limited room around the bed. Also the colors of the furniture looked drab.
He then took us to a 27rl which is only 27 feet long and only one slide out, but it had the good colors and plenty of space around the bed. He then told us that the bottom price for this unit was $28,000 plus tax license and hitch. This was about the same as we were quoted on a 29rlbs which is longer and has two slide outs.????? He then said,,, well we are not the lowest price in town. "no kidding"
The 27rl should be about $3,500 less then the 29rlbs. Well to make a long story short, it looks like we will be going to rvwholesalers.com to get our 5er. Their price on the 27rl and outfitted the same is $22,691.65 for a savings of
$5,308.35. The 29rlbs is about $26,000 before tax and license at rvwholesalers. Since We are going back there anyway, it looks like that is what we are going to do, unless we find something else near us.
