I am trying to identify what brand of AutoStart my Excursion has so that I can figure out why it looses its memory. I have looked around for my auto start module but cant seem to find it. I did locate a box under the dash that has two wires going into it. When I opened it up there is a Ford key it in that had the key part ground down so that it is useless. I assume this key is in the box so the autostart unit can bypass the anti-theft system(using the coded key)? The large end of the key is slipped inside a loop of wires and when I remove it the autostart cranks the engine but it will not fire. Would the module be close to this other box? The remote is black with two green buttons. The model on the remote is CS 555(I think, it is scratched up). It also says CSI Manufacturing and Distribution INC. I though the dealer told me this was an Astro Start but now I am thinking it may not be?

I just Googled CSI Manufacturing and Distribution INC and it came back that they are Astroflex which is who makes Astro Start. Maybe it is a Astro Start after-all?

Slip your key in the ignition without turning it.

Try to remote start.

Does that do anything?

With the key in the black box the engine starts fine with the auto start. I would not want to leave my keys in the ignition all the time.

The problem I am having is with the unit losing its memory over time. Things like run-time go back to the factory pre-set rather than staying on the longer run-time that we need up here in the cold country. First step is to identify the brand so that I can find out how to reprogram it.

The CS 555 is on the transmitter. I cannot find the module under the dash. They must have hidden it good or else it is the same box that the dummy key it in but that box does not have any numbers on it.

I am sure Max Power will know. Where are you Max??

I am pretty sure the CS555 is for an old Command start which would explain why you are having problems. They are junk. Are there 2 blue buttons on the remote?

It will be under there somewhere, try to follow the antenna wire back.

Also the box with the key in it will be wired to the main box, so you should be able to follow those wires.

I would have to agree with the "junk". There are two Green buttons on the remote. Like I said the back of the remote says "CSI Manufacturing" which is who makes Astro Start. Do they also make Command Start? Don't use the key hole in the picture for reference to brand. It is a soda can top, the original plastic ring broke and I fixed it with what was handy
