I've finally bought a "real" CCV filter to stop the drips off my back bumper from my CCV mod. Has anyone mounted a RACOR CCV unit and routed the filtered oil back to the block? I have the CCV unit and am looking over mount options, looking for fittings, and cannot figure out where to run the oil. I'm not at all familiar with any possible openings

This is a 4500 series unit (CCV4500-08L). The oil drain line is 3/8" ID, there is a check valve, and they recommend "Locate an unused dipstick boss or other access to the crankcase. Install the train check valve as low as possible into the crankcase, preferably above the oil level".

Thanks in advance. I'll post up some pix once I figure out how to mount this next to the radiator coolant filter..maybe using the aFe compartment as my mount point.

I have seen them mounted on the firewall very close to the factory CCV and then Either use the same hole as you're pulling the fumes from for a return or tap another hole in the driver's valve cover.

There is also a port down lower near the oil filter housing that drains back into the block (at least there is on mine) but be aware that there is also a pressure port there too

Thanks Brandon. I looked around on the lower cranckase and found a few plugs...but don't know a port from a pressure port? Where could I find a schematic or a picture. According to the Racor info you need enough vertical height between the CCV's sump and the check valve to overcome any dirty filter pressure drop; they give a 6" water column example. Using the 6" there isn't enough height to use the "doghouse" to dump the oil back in, I'm afraid...

BIG JOE and I have the Racor 3500 units that are FORD PSD specific. They mount on the DS breather cover, and drain though the center right into the valve cover. If you can exchange it for that, I think you will be better off.

If you decide to keep the 4500, here are some thoughts- there are pressurized and non pressurised ports on the block. there are also coolant drain plugs there too. the port you want is the plug next to the oil filter/oil cooler housing. here is a picture from gulf coast-

you can dump into there. but i would DEFINITELY put a check valve in that line too.

I debated back & forth, and went for the higher CFM rating on the 4500 series although I expect in reality that is overkill for me.

DP - many thanks, that was exactly what I am looking for. I have the check valve and all plumbing except a really oddball 1-3/6" "SAE" straight thread for the inlet/outlet (that's coming from a local hydraulics shop) and I think I can set this onto the back side of the aFe Stage 2 box next to/forward of, the master cylinder.

Just to be clear, the non-pressurized port is on the right(rear) of the oil filter. Correcto? Also, any idea what that thread is for the plug, looks to be 1/4 or 3/8 NPT...and do you reckon it's above the oil line? (makes finding out cleaner...!)

Thank you!

RSG-

The ports shown in the picture are from the installation of a bypass oil filter.

On a stock truck, they are simply plugged.

The non-pressurized one that you want is the one on the right in the picture. IIRC, its 1/4" NPT.

How much vent

I did the CCV Mod ran the hose down under the truck. At a stop light it looks pretty silly. I tell them it's a hybrid. But now I am starting to think Is this motor worn out??? I don;t understand lots of blow by no oil consumtion to speak of.

How much blow buy is too much???
