does any body have any experience with a dp tuner 3 position. does anyone see a significant mileage improvement, if so will it be consistent with all three poser levels and how strong is level 3?

it all depends on what positions you choose. the 80 econo setting from what i understand will net you around 2 mpg depending how good you are at keeping your foot out of the go petal. my buddy has a dp-tuner 2 pos. chip and it hauls azz with his stage 2 injectors, but his mileage isn't very good with the stage 2's, 4.10 gears, and a lead foot. And by the way, welcome to the forums!!!!

thanks for the welcome, i am mainly concerned w/ mileage my powerstroke curently has an eighteen-k resistor mod, straight pipe w/factory downpipe, and large conicle filter. the truck is a two wheel drive 5spd reg cab (5200lbs) with a rear end that i have swaped with out of an old junk gasser that i belive to be a 3.55 but it still is running about 2300rpm on highway speeds so i am also considering a 3.08 ring an pinion. this setup yeilds me about 23-24 highway mpgs and i think it could be improved with some tuning, 3" downpipe and even higher gear. sorry for all that fyi but anyways i have also found a banks ottomind 50hp chip on ebay as well that is only at 25$ which will give me better mileage?

i wouldn't put any banks product on a powerstroke except for the intercooler. you will get more from a dp-tuner. you could also do a gear vendors double overdrive for mileage. one of my friends has a '95 powerstroke with 4.10's in it. he runs at around 2500 rpm at 65 and 70 mph. with his gear vendors double overdrive he runs at something like 1800rpm at that same speed. its a really sweet unit. pretty pricey though.

well i looked at the dp tuner website and for 75$ i can send in my pcm and have it flashed w/ a tune and i called about it and they recomened the 80 economy tune so i think when i get the 3.08 ring and pinion for it i will send off my pcm

i swpaed the rear end from an old gasser and i don't exactly no my speed because i lost my hook up w/ the swap but i do know it's definetly turning faster than 1500 at 60. the tag said that it was a 3.55 but who knows it could have possibly been swaped for a 3.73 but it was definetly an improvement over the 4.11 that came in it.
