this is on a 95 7.3.. to start things off, we just changed injectors, drive the truck about 70 miles then about a mile from home the truck starts starving for fuel and dies. i connected the solus to it and it showed no codes. changed the cps anyway. pulled the valve covers and checked all the injectors, all were well. looked in the fuel filter base and i was about 1/4 of the way full. cranked it over a few times bleeding out the air of the filter base. truck starts now and idles for about 3-5 mins then runns out of fuel. i checked all of the fuel line clamps. thought it was the tranfer pump, replaced it. damn truck still runs for about 3 mins then runs out of fuel. the drain valve on the filter base was removed and i could blow air back thou the valve in the closed position. just got the new valve and i can blow back through it too. dont know what the hell to do. any clues?

the fuel pump is getting fuel, pushin fuel. installed new drainvalve and o rings. after the !@#$ thing dies the filter base is full of pressurized air. as for the fpr what do you mean? done the #4 for about a week straight now.

When you say the base is full of pressurized air, is it alot of pressure? The lift pump normaly wouldn't cause any serious air pressure if it was sucking air.

One possibility, since you just changed injectors. If you didn't get one tightened down properly, or missing/damaged copper washer, you could be getting blowby past the copper washer and lower o-ring, and into the fuel return. Between the FPR and the return to lift pump the fuel passage connects to the standpipe, so that could pressurize the bowl.

Put a pressure gauge on the schraeder valve and see what the pressure does on the high pressure side. If it's starving due to the lift pump it would likely drop before it dies.

You could also put a pressure gauge in place of the fuel restriction sensor, or modify the cap for a gauge, and see what the low pressure side is doing. Normal pressure there is 3-5psi

I'd say retorque the injectors first and see if they tighten more. I noticed on mine if I held the specified torque with a torsion type torque wrench, they would slowly keep tightening. Somewhere close to half a turn extra. Those copper washers tend to compress down a bit.

it could not be the selector valve as we ran the truck out five gallon bucket, directly to the lift pump. still ran out of fuel. pulled the injectors, all orings and copper gaskets were good. got it all put back together and it is still doing the same old S**t. what if i runn a fusible link through the fuel tank, short it out and watch it burn!!!!!!!
