What you have is a fuel heater. It uses hot water to warm the fuel. When cold it will not do much to warm the fuel, but it will after a few minutes. THIS IS NOT A FORD PART!
What is the best way for me to go about buying new hoses then?

From the Pics, the [FUEL LINES] are internal to that heater body. Those leaking/soft lines are no more the Heater Hose.

All you need is the right size, common Heater Hose, to replace them.

Joe

What you have there is part of a WVO (homemade Bio-diesel) set up. A PO was make'n his own Home Dezel Brew, maybe ?

Forgive my lack of experience with this area of mechanics, but how do I shape the hoses into the correct shape? They're about 3 feet long, with numerous complex turns before attaching to the firewall

You can't shape heater hoses. Just run it so it is smooth and no unnecessary turns or kinks. A smooth 1/4 circle might do it for you.

Be gentle with the removal.. use the old ones for a pattern for length and bends.. then just re-route the new ones.. to fit.
