Not all of them do, but more are doing it around here. Haven't seen a Sam's selling Diesel yet. Some Sam's give 5 cents off per gal. My Kroger don't sell any gas or diesel.

As for the gift cards, statistics show that 30% of them, and gift certificates are never used. Just a thought.

i think EVENTUALLY youll see your kroger selling fuel...weve got one
that only does gasoline...and even IT was added a couple years after
the store was built.

i think they have been test marketing it in a few places and now i see
most of 'em selling at least gasoline.

kroger used to be one of my customers (when i was w/ ibm)...houston
is a big "test market" for all their "new" ideas....theyre bigger than
most people realize The Kroger Companies

weve got one walmart/murphy that doesnt sell diesel (closet one to
me, wouldnt you know)....the walmart near us is not usually the
cheapest for gas either

If you are concerned about Wal-Mart having your money on a gift card you can use their money for two or three days. I can buy something for 5 or 10 bucks on a Friday night in the store and charge it on my debit card and get $90 to $100 cash back; then put that $90 to $100 on my Wal-mart gift card, drive across the parking lot and put $90 to $100 fuel in my truck and my bank account is not debited until Monday and sometimes as late as Tuesday.

I didn't know Kroger owned Tom Thumb. Can I get the Kroger thing at Tom Thumb?

dont know...since we dont have TT's, only thing i can recommend
is that you visit one and see.

i cant stand these frequent shopper cards, personally...its a way
of someone to track my spending & buying habits...so i always
fill 'em out w/ bogus info (i use a virginia zip code...or i dont fill
'em out at all (i take one and say ill bring it back later completed...

Kroger doesn't own Tom Thumb. They just have similar discounts, except Tom Thumb gives a 10 cent per gallon discount for each purchase over $50.00, but Kroger offers a 1o cent discount for each $100.00 purchase. Tom Thumb is owned by Safeway.

The only Wal-Mart here that sells gas doesn't have diesel on the menu. I could fill the boat up there but it's not on the way to the boat ramp. There is a gas station on the Navy base so I get unleaded there. Its usually three or four cents cheaper there. Too bad there are no Kroger stores this far east. I've still got my old Kroger card from 6 years ago.

Speaking of, last time I filled up at Kroger was about the summer of '02 time frame. I filled up my 27 gallon tank on my '99 GMC Sierra 2500(6.0 gasser) for less than $20. It had some fuel in it but the regular was $0.90 and the Kroger card used to get you 5 cents off a gallon. Can't beat $0.85 a gallon. I'll be telling my kids about how gas used to cost less than a dollar a gallon just like you guys tell yours about how you could go to the movies and get popcorn for a nickel way back in the fifties. -popcorn
