I just got my new "Technicooler" intercooler installed at Banks, it really makes a big difference. They had to remove my big aftermarket transmission cooler to fit the intercooler in so I need a new skinier tranny cooler to fit where the stock one was. Any ideas?

What transmission cooler did you have?

I have a Trucool 4590 mounted with some custom brackets in the front bumper it clears with my intercooler. You'll need to create mounts down low since there is plenty of space below the intercooler & behind the bumper for the cooler.

Banks mounted the intercooler pretty low, (you can see it through the vent/light holes in the bumper) and there is 5" clearance above the intrcooler. I'll see if I can mount one down there. What trans temps do you see on your setup? What are good/safe temps?

My temps usually run about 100° above ambient when the transmission is warmed up.

What I will consider acceptable depends on what I'm doing with the truck, regardless when I start climbing beyond 230° I do what is needed to cool her down. The only times I've seen those temps was before rebuilding when I was descending a long hill and the converter would not stay locked due to the programming I had at the time so it was heating up the fluid very rapidly. Running stop & go I have yet to see over 200°

If you'll take some pictures so we can see what clearances you have we should be able to suggest some mounting points for you I'll try and get some pictures of where my trans cooler is mounted.

What kind of clearance do you have between their intercooler and the back edge of your bumper?

My cooler is a B&M 11"x12"x1-1/2". It looks just like your Trucool. I'll get pics up of my bumper/intercooler clearances tomorrow.

Here are the ones I snapped of my truck.

That intercooler is sitting down about as low as mine I took a couple of pieces of 1/8" X 1" bar stock and cut it the right dimension to fit between the bumper mounts and welded it in place.

For the time being the trans cooler is held on with self tapping screws:doh: I have plans to replace those with better fasteners in the future.

I had to mount the trans cooler and then hook the lines up after the bumper was mounted on the frame, I chose to offset the cooler to the driver's side to make hose routing a bit easier but this served to make bumper attachment a bit difficult but that is due to the intercooler being down there in the way too.

From the grill looking in hidden behind the horizontal support is the top of the intercooler.

On the left of the picture is the edge of the trans cooler, you are looking up the rust is on the inside of the bumper. About 1/2 way down the picture on teh right side you see the bar stock I welded in.

Note the clearance between the trans cooler & the intercooler
