im probably gonna run east (via god forsaken i10 to mobile and
then north thur atlanta).

should i weight down my 18 foot trailer w/ a motorcycle just
to make the ride smoother ? or pull the trailer empty and say
the heck w/ it ?

BE CAREFUL on I-10 from Vidor to Orange or the State Line(can't remember where it stops). There is a bunch of road work going on there. Skinny lanes and stuff. There is alot of road work on I-65 and I-85. The only problem is the slower speed limits. I don't remember the lanes being skinnier though. Say hi to Beaumont for me when you pass through.

Be careful and have a safe trip bush. You could always hit I-20 on the way back and go north on US431 upto Albertville and visit little ole me.

ok so my PLAN is to run i10 over to mobile....where ill run i65/i85 thru
to greenville and from there i have little choice but to run 25/26 into
asheville.

its the SHORTEST (and hopefully the fastest) route...i should be in
asheville in time for dinner.

------------------

sorry no time for any side trips...

-------------------

i picked up the trailer tonight, greased the bearings, charging the
emergency brake battery & i relocated the license plate (drilled and
riveted it to the trailer fender...no chance of loosing it or bending
it in this location !

i had a trailer connection issue...looks like its just oxidation on the
trailer plug...some light work w/ an emery cloth and some contact
cleaner and everything seems to be ok.

brakes were never a problem...just the lights.

im gonna go w/ the raw (empty) trailer...i dont really think 500 or
600lbs (motorcycle) will smooth out the right so the heck w/ it.

ive got all the POSSIBLE fuel stops mapped & ill be connecting
my GPS to my Laptop so ill know where all the flying j's are on my
route...im hopeful that ill only have to stop ONCE...but thatll have
more to do w/my SPEED than anything...worst case ill have to
top w/ a couple of gallons just before i get into asheville...probably
around greenville.

Bush make sure that you get threw Orange and Vidor early. Went through today to drop some carts off in Orange and the freeway was one lane. The road construction is m/m 870 to 880. It is in between there. Lanes are really narrow espically when driving a big rig with a 53' trailer loaded with 25K lbs of golf carts. Have a safe trip talk to ya when you get back.

hey you got my favorite flying J in gulfport
diesel pump is a BIOTCH they only have one diesel pump and its center island up front
go thru the rv side and save a ton of time. DO NOT EAT THERE its not quite clean
coffe is ok but no food from the restaraunte

and be on the look out for some serious trailer trash, lot lizards and shady characters. I dont know why but that flying j has its share of low lifes
REALLY
lock the truck and you know the rest

be assured the LOves across the street is just as bad
matter of fact that whole little section of miss is terrible. almost as bad as baton rouge
sorry folks but it true
but at least the fuel is cheaper in miss
be careful
I resided myslef long ago there is only two peple worth driving a trip like that in a short time
my wife and the grandbaby
other than that i would drive 8-10 and sleep over

thanks...GREAT advice and i really appreciate it.

Im planning my departure for about 3am...which SHOULD allow
me to avoid rush hour traffic EVERYWHERE...(assuming theres not
much traffic around i10/i12 in new orleans).

I expect to be north of atlanta shortly after 2pm or so.
