-mad Yep It spewed this saturday -mad I pulled my cargo trailer which was loaded down around 5k. enclosed. trucking at 65 on the highway to the storage unit. ran in the two/haul, not impressed, to long to shift into OD and never felt hooked up. anyway got the unit and let her cool down. started unloading junk. saw a bunch of liquid dripping off the front lower radiator lines and tranny lines. popped the hood, looked around and you will never guess what the culprit was???? the top radiator hose clamp was loose enough to allow the pressure to lift eh hose and dribble dribble dribble spew. tightened the clamp and drove her home, no more leaky
I can only surmize that there was some extra stress of running in tow haul. It would hold high rpms 3000 a long time before dropping into OD. and that maybe running the high rpms built up extra heat and pressure and found a weak spot. but running the air at max and towing well under design paramaeters there should be ZERO defects. after katrina gets out of my hair I plan to do a top down of all clamps and hoses. and finish my install of teh oil guard. you know for a smaller engine than the 7.3 it sure is crowded under the hood RObert
you know for a smaller engine than the 7.3 it sure is crowded under the hood RObert[/QUOTE] Man you got that one right. I never seen so much junk under a hood of anything before.
If you think the 6.0 is crowded under there, just wait until they shoehorn the twin turbos under the hood. I talked to a guy who has seen that setup and he says it's a tech's worst nightmare!!
I wonder if the twins are more for emissions than power sort of like a power recovery turbine or using tons of bleed air off one. just thinking out loud I havent seen much on it I know when we worked on the 2 cycle detroits we had a turbo and a blower. it moved massive amounts of air, but again they wont run without the positive pressure. and one huge cat had twins on her, i could put my shoulders in the intake side of the turbo. when i stood in the cycl my shoulders never touched the sides
IMO, the twins are there to get better response / performance and to get rid of the variable vane strategy.
