What you want to get is a Dana 60 From a F350, The Years you want to look for is 1986-1997.

Then you might wanna call ARB up and tell them their application guide is wrong then cuz thats where it says D50 1980-2004

I'll bet BigK doesnt care to call ARB and tell them that their app guide is wrong... see, he's already got the D60 under his F-250. :sweet

I think he was just trying to be helpful and tell you what he already knows.

The D50 they are referring to is the TTB D50 that is a piece of crap. Most guys want the straight axle D60 but if you are set on a TTB piece of crap I bet someone would give you one free of charge since most guys swap them out for a D60.

LOL, that is funny, I see stuff like that ALL the time.

There was no Dana 50 in 1986-1997 F350's, It ONLY came with a Dana 60 Straight Axle.

Now, From 1980-1985 F350's came with Dana 50 TTB's aka Twin Traction Beam aka IFS.

This is also the same axle that was in the F250's From 1980-1997 Dana 50 TTB.

Now, this is a DIFFERENT axle compared to the SuperDuty 99+ Dana 50 Straight Axle.

OK, lets help him out a little bit.

You ahve two choices for 3/4 ton and 1 ton front ends for these years. It's the Dana 50 TTB and Dana 60 front end. The dana 50 has a lot more moving parts, and camber changes with load. This is OK for a vehicle that is a commuter vehicle and occasional towing, but a vehicle that sees a lot of change in weight on the front axle will wear tires out quickly. Also, bushings and the moving parts are difficult to change. The dana 60 is expensive, but a stronger axle, and due to the solid part, the camber is fixed.

You want the 1356 case, it's the common one.

It will be cheaper to buy another truck. Two weeks ago I bought a 1995 F250 4x4 for $2300. It's got the 460, but is in OK shape. The cost of parts for this will get very close to what your vehicle is worth plus the extra parts, or it may cost more. You can get a great deal on vehicles when you don't need one. Some people really need to sell.

For fear of sounding like a jerk, thats all already been said. I dont know what Penguin has in mind but the D60 and 1356 were two of the first recomendations here.

i converted mine just almost 2 years ago. it was the only way i was gonna get me a 4wd. i've got a dually, and didn't wanta buy a single wheel 4wd and then put a dually conversion on it. i found a 1987 ford f-350 that was well rotted, picked it up for $500. that gave me almost everything needed. a dana 60 front axle, springs, spring mounts, transfercase, driveshafts, etc... when i was done i scrapped truck and got back almost $200. i did spend some more money on bolts, new brakes, oil and such things as those. i'd say i spent less than a grand on it. the only thing is you've gotta change the tranny to a 4wd one. i was already having a tranny built for my truck (do to it slipping) so i had them toss the output shaft and tailpiece on the the 4wd. works great and i have 1 of 2 4wd dually pickups in this era.
